$250 for 18TB is great option for backups, archiving, TimeWarp on Mac, etc.
I can switch between Windows and Mac, and have separate partitions configured and everyone is happy. ExFAT is the format that both can natively read/write, but the Windows backup disk image utility wants it to be NTFS, so I created a partition for that. I used my Macbook Air to do the partitioning, as sometime on there wanted Apple file system, but with 18TB, this wasn't a big deal. Comes with Acronis backup free version which isn't too bad at all.
It is very slow though, but I run my backups overnight so doesn't cause any issues really. It gets about 300 MBps where external Samsung SSD gets around 1000 MBps compared to internal SSDs about 3-7 times that.

I am on my 3 WD EasyStore 18TB HD. Aside from being quit noisy, and sometimes taking a bit to wake up, this one seems to be working. The first WD 18TB HD I received would power up but no of my computers would recognize it. I contacted WD support and after hours of trouble shooting the determined it was faulty and recommended I return to Best Buy for a replacement. Best Buy and their amazing customer service sent me a replacement right away. The 2nd one I received would not power up and something inside was rattling. I contacted Best Buy customer care and they recommended another replacement. I agreed to the replacement and now I am on my third one. I have been using it for about 2 months and it seems to be working good, I am just hoping that it will last. After having 2 bad ones, and this one being as noisy as it is, I am very skeptical on the longevity of it. I have had many WD external hard drives and this is the fist model that I have had an issue with.

Having an external drive has been a lifesaver, especially since my Mac was running out of space fast. Now, I can offload all those bulky media files and free up valuable storage on my laptop. It's like having a weight lifted off my shoulders knowing I won't constantly be battling with low disk space alerts. And the best part is, my family can also use it to store their files, making it a shared solution for all our storage needs.

Good storage device. If you are having massive files and need storage for it. just plug to your PC or Mac and you are good to go. Does not perform like ssd but its good enough

What can I say... TONS of storage for a fair price.
Transfer speeds are good, access time from first connection is good, response time from idle is good. No issues.
My only complaint is the drive is a little noisy. But since I only use it for periodic backups, noise is not an issue.

I'm absolutely thrilled with my Western Digital easystore desktop hard drive purchase!
This thing is a beast with its 18TB capacity, providing me all the space I need for my files. The USB 3.0 interface makes it a breeze to connect, and the WD Discovery backup software is fantastic, letting me set up automatic backups on my terms.
What's more, it plays nicely with both PC and Mac, making it versatile for my needs. The two-year warranty is icing on the cake.
If you're in the market for a reliable and spacious external hard drive, this one's a winner.

I prefer Scandisk to WD, last longer, withstand better, and perform better but at the price I returned a scandisk for this item but got the additional coverage due to two failed drives in the past.

Ran out of space on my previous backup drive. Glad to see much larger drives now available. Bought this one, used the same cables that were in place for the previous drive. Downloaded the backup software. Back in business for another few years. Will use the "old" drive to store music files.

I tend to not have enough storage for my photos. The WD easystore 18TB external hard drive helps with my storage needs. It's easy to set up and it's a great value when it's on sale. :)

How do you migrate 14TB's of data to a new mass storage system with room to spare? The easystore 18TB was the answer and now the easystore serves as a backup to that same mass storage. The migration went reasonable fast in that the transfer speed varied somewhere around 125-175mbps with no errors. Very happy with this purchase.

Noisier than my 8tb 7200rpm drive, it clicks alot when going into sleep and then again waking up, but its been reliable over the 2 months of daily use.

Pleased that I was able to grab this at a discount. Great way for me to centralize all of my storage and keep things organized. Not sure how I was able to manage without it.

Excellent for shucking and an excellent price per terabyte when I purchased it, much lower than bare drives. These have WD180EDGZ drives in them which are white label enterprise drives. Generally, the WD drives are easier to shuck than the Seagates and have higher quality drives in them. The drives perform as expected for platter SATA drives, just around 200 MB/s or so.
