Excellent price for a lot of space! I make movies and always am concerned about space. They have been pretty reliable and I'm very happy with their external drives

Have even been getting external hard drives since before the 1TB was the largest of the drives available on the market. We have purchased many Seagate and WD external hard drives over the years. To be honest, these are the only two brands that I trust with all of my digital information. I do always have a minimum of two backups to everything because I have, on rare occasions, had one of these drives go bad. However, for the amount it stores, and for the overall reliability, I think it is a great investment for all those irreplaceable digital photos, movies, projects, etc.

Easy to use, plug in and play and I would recommend formatting first and selecting GPT for partition table and creating your own partitions. Massive amount of storage and can get the 110MB transfer speed on a gigabit network with no issue.

As an avid media collector, I've got way too many Blu-ray and vinyl rips floating around. My 8TB external harddrive was getting pretty tight, so I upgraded to a WD EasyStore 18TB and this is the perfect backup solution. It holds all of my movies, TV shows, and music files. Transfer speeds are about as fast as a traditional spindle drive will allow. And for my fellow homelabbers out there, these ARE shuckable so you can get a few of these, remove them (carefully) from the case, and pop them into a home server, NAS, or a desktop for tons of storage.

BE aware that these drives have some tech in place to help them last longer that can be disconcerting. They spin up randomly and make a lot of noise. I don't think I ever had an external drive do this, and I have a lot of drives.
It seems that the process is intentional, but it makes me nervous.

Using this to backup several smaller drives with personal photos or work shoots. Excellent unit for bulk storage. Not high speed, but that is to be expected with HDD's this large.
Best Buy will usually have this item on sale for a great price

If gotten on sale like I managed to, these are a great cost per TB. However, These are the loudest drives I have ever used, and I've been computering since the mid 90s. I'm talking huge chonky noises coming out of this thing. When it spins up from idle it sounds like an old typewriter. It can be heard in an adjacent room.

Good price for a lot of storage. Was really pleased with how quickly the 8+ TB of data I had on scattered drives copied over to this drive. Happy to now be able to back up regularly to a single drive.
