It allows me much more flexibility in using it with other computers when I cannot carry my own desktop. With it I can keep my memory down on the desktop. It also allows me to keep a program specially on it to keep all my notes on it without using up space on the desktop. Very nice addition.

I assume that it will work well if I ever need to access the files on it, but I haven't had to test that out.

Highly recommended for anyone who is starting off with cpu's. Must have I had just saved everything on just my laptop and I am a college student and sure enough it crashed and all my research papers and pictures had gotten lost. Not no more with this easy backup plan.
