I bought this external drive to back-up my desktop files. It worked perfectly the first couple of times, then the app began displaying an error message stating that I did not have permission to access the drive/files I was trying to back up. I tried everything I could to resolve, including opening the app as an administrator and searching for solutions online. Nothing worked. This has basically become junk, and I will have to buy another external hard drive. It will definitely not be a WD.

super helpful cleaning my computer and making it functional

purchased 2 of these to use for backing up data on 2 laptops. shortly after purchase, old laptop gave up the ghost and I was glad I had backed up all of it'sdata less than a week before.

Did not get rid. Of my problem. It still tells me that it was not shut down properly and needs to be restored. I always close everything and either shut down or sleep.

Purchased hard drive to retrieve data by Geek staff . Pick up computer. Was not given to us . Had to call to get hard drive . Spent 3 trips to resolve problem.

Kinda loud at times but never disappoints when coming to fast saves or uploads very convenient to carry around in book bag or crossbody bag

Works very well. Safeguards my data and pictures. The Geek Squad service restored my hard drive using my passport and recovered 99% of my pictures and files.

The hard drive I purchased was fine. The service/assistance I got from the Geek Squad/BestBuy person was not. I was told to take the new Dell desktop home, leaving the old one, to transfer my old data to new hard drive
