Fast USB 3 cable connection makes it easy to move large file sets to or from the drive. Wireless connection was painless and quick.
Importing of images and video from a camera's USB was painless and great. A simple web user interface allows you to decide if you want to do manually or automatically copy or move files to the drive.
I set it up to automatically copy files when and SD card was installed. I'd spend the day taking pictures. Then at night I'd insert the SD card into the drive and backup all the images. RAW, JPG and MOV formats from a Canon SL1 were imported without issue.
With typical usage, the battery would last about 4 hours. The battery level was visible through the web interface and one of the well labeled indicator lights on the unit showed the high level status through 3 easy colors.

Its a great product and works out of the box for the most part, but make sure to CHARGE IT COMPLETELY FIRST! It wont let you do a software update to get all the security fixes until its charge at least 50% but I would recommend a full charge. Might take 4-8 hours.
Good product after that. Wireless and wired both supported. Supports SD cards and also has a battery so you can use it on the go or as a little file server for home.

Great that it does both iOS and Windows files with no special formatting. Also, love the app for iPAD. All this makes it easy to share files and media. Only reason I don't give 5 stars are the external control buttons, which I find a little confusing. Nothing really terrible and they work fine, but I would personally prefer a little different interface.

Picked this up to store movies/pics since the ipad storage was small. Have used it on flights and at work. Easy to setup and use. Download the app, pair, and load everything on there. Solved my storage problem.

As a Google Photographer and the need to transfer a lot of data on a daily basis, this item comes in handy for several reason. The size...1 TB (I mean come on!) and the ease of use. Just slip in the memory card and all files transfer automatically.

A great wifi drive for trips. The kids love that it streams movie to their iPads and we love it for uploading photos and videos so our phones don't lose space. Tons of space and battery life is good. Really happy with it.

This external wireless and portable hard drive is perfect to save and keep documents in your cloud. I have lost documents before thru a USB or the fact that computer crashes but this little piece of technology is now my lifesaver with all my important information and documents right at my fingertips as it works from my iPad, phone, or computers.

I had a sea gate product that was used for 8yrs. It crashed so I grabbed this WD one after it was referred to me by a friend. The capabilities of an external hard drive with an 8yr difference was amazing. I love the fact that it can connect wirelessly to my network and I can upload and download pictures from my devices to it without connecting.

I have had this drive for over two years. Initially it is excellent. I can move files seamlessly wirelessly but after a time
the usb 3.0 port on the drive wears down- which is common with WD hard drives . I have used them over the last 10 years and it is always the USB charging port that goes first.
within the last 6 months, the drive has been charging very slowly. It wasn't discoverable and eventually it stopped charging-it was the USB 3.0 port. it fell into the drive.Anticipating drive failure, which is my experience with 'My Passport' drives, I set up a NAS, using hard drives manufactured by a company that knows hard drive. I refused to buy WD drives for my NAS.
I set up the 4 drive NAS and tried to get the passport to charge up so that I could transfer all of my files off this drive. The drive wouldn't charge. I left it charging for three days; then the USB 3.0 port fell into the drive. Now I have to send this drive back to WD to get this fixed (thankfully, my information is encrypted).
This is a great idea but the lifespan of the drive's charging port is limited.

This drive is small enough to take on a trip. The feature that allows you to insert your memory card into it and it will automatically copy all your photos to the drive is a big time saver. Great for the photographer on the go. The one thing I found frustrating about the drive is that in order to preview your photos you had to access it via a tablet or a smart phone and the software to do that is very confusing to use. It took me quite a while to figure out how to use the software. Also it stores photos for each day in a different file which it great if that is the way you want your photos stored but not so great is you want to organize them in another way. All in all, it seems to be a good product, but you'll have to spend quite a bit of time figuring out how to use the software.

I found WD - My Passport 1TB External USB 3.0 Wireless Portable Hard Drive difficult to set up. The documentation that came with the product was insufficient and the on line documentation was not much better. Clear and accurate step-by-step instructions are needed.
