I picked this up at the store, took it home, and plugged it into my Windows 10 laptop. I copied about 300 GB worth of data to store as a backup. Transfer rates on my system averaged a little over 100MB/s. Initially, speeds bounced between 88 to 104MB/s. By the end of the transfer, speeds were up to 119MB/s. I'm very happy! I didn't need to do anything more than plug it in and go. This was a replacement for an old backup hard drive. It's noticeably smaller (about half as thick) than the old USB 2.0 500GB drive it replaced. The whole process was easy. There was nothing I needed to do other than to plug it in and go.

I really liked the drive itself. It has a huge capacity for a very low price. However, the bundled software was not as good as the older version I bought several years ago. WD Backup used to offer much greater control of what to backup and where to back it up. It allowed the user to closely track the progress of the backup. WD Drive Utilities is more limited as well. It tests the drive, but provides little information about what it found.

Lots of storage and easy to use! I do have trouble connecting it to different computers though.

Good product for Mr m Jones. I am able to save my filming pictures and submit it to Amazon prime video for the world to see.

I bought this drive to store movies for my video library. It holds the movies and functions well with my computer. When I tried to attach the drive to my televisions and blu-ray/dvd players. Some it would work with others it wouldn't. I suspect the problem of not working with all the units is the drive is powered by whatever it's plugged into and some units couldn't do that. It works well though, as I said earlier, with my computer.

Love this little external drive. I use it as a backup drive and love the software it comes with to schedule when to run backups automatically and ability to choose exactly which folders you want to back up. Also I like that you can password protect it using the included software as well.

Got plenty of room for all your media,(music, videos, movies). Nice and portable to view on the road.

Granted, SSD is now the way to go but I get paranoid of the “new way” and like to back up my important files onto these OldSchool external HD

Using it for 2 months. No problems. Have a lot of Western Digital external drives and find them highly reliable. I don't need to use the encryption function as I'm not using it for anything that needs to be secured. Nice and fast on USB 3.0. Using it with a laptop. No problems.

It is very useful for my needs and is compatible with my computer. Has helped me organized all of my documents, photos and videos.

Hooked up beautifully to my ps4. It's so nice being able to have a few games to play instead of what you're able to with the stock storage.

I was greeted cordially, directed to the aisle i wanted. A clerk came forward and then assisted me in buying tbe product that best suited my needs. Check out sites in area busy so i was escorted up front for immediate chechout. Thsts a 10 out of 10!

I have had 3 WD hard drives over the last 25 years. The first one was outstanding, it did its job for 25 years. I purchased a second in 2010 to go with a laptop. It failed to function after 3 months and was returned for a full refund. This third one was to replace the 25 year old that finally died. It never function properly and now has been returned after 1 month.

Works perfect for PS5. I purchased to store all of my ps4 games on here to free up space on the internal ssd. Was very easy to format once plugged into the ps5 and non ps5 games automatically download and save to it. Would recommend to anyone looking for an external hard drive

So many people I deal with, who have online businesses use this same portable hard drive , which validates how good and reliable this product is. This is my third upgrade of this particular external drive. I really like its durability and reliability.

So far so good. Plug and play on my Mac in less than a minute. A very quiet drive and runs pretty cool....

Use this to store games on for my XBOX Series X. Just know that you cant play current titles on it (not fast enough) BUT you can store and move over to or from your SSD for the Xbox

I have a few WD hdds so I already know whatvto expect in terms of quality and reliability. What makes it nicer is that it comes with a recovery tool in the unlikely event that files are lost. Although I have never had the need to use it (hopefully never) it's a nice add-on to the product itself.

So far, fast and reliable. Does exactly what I need. I use it for data backup. No problems connecting windows 7 sp1 or windows 10. For whatever reason the red one was a little more expensive but it was the last one in store and I needed the drive that day so I bought it.
