Very good product but it is not compatible in Windows 10-11. You must give it a Quick Format FAT32 to use it as an external storage, otherwise, the data recovery programs in Windows 10-11 will not work.

After using it for about a month, it started making a strange sound. Soon after, the drive cannot be recognized by any computer. I have been trying for another month to get a solution from WD but nothing that have been recommended works. I can still get a replacement but currently the data that I have saved is more valuable to me. I own other WD drives that I have been using for a long time without problems. Maybe these new models are not as good as the old ones.

I purchased one of these drives and its been a complete nightmare. Used it while on a trip to Hawaii to backup content during vacation. Needless to say the disk went bad. Lost everything before I could move to my main storage. WD Replaced the drive, The replacement went bad shortly thereafter. Again WD did an RMA and the replacement for the replacement was BAD right out of the box from WD. Now I'm waiting on a 4th drive and every time I have had to pay shipping for the return process. This is it, I don't even care about the product at this point. I would never trust this device to store information on.

I have been using the WD - My Passport 5TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive, and I am very happy with it. It is a reliable and affordable external hard drive that offers a lot of storage space.
Pros:
Large storage capacity (5TB)
Affordable price
Compact and lightweight design
Easy to use
Compatible with both Mac and Windows
Comes with backup software
Cons:
Not as fast as an SSD
Can be noisy when reading or writing large files
Overall:
I highly recommend the WD Hard Drive to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable external hard drive with a lot of storage space. It is perfect for storing photos, videos, music, and other documents.
I have used the drive to back up my laptop and to store photos and videos from my phone. It has worked flawlessly for both of these purposes.
The drive is small and lightweight, so it is easy to carry around with me. I often take it with me when I travel so that I can have access to my files on the go.
The drive is easy to use. Simply plug it into your computer and it will mount as a new drive. You can then start copying files to and from the drive.
The drive is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers. This is convenient for me because I have both types of computers at home.
The drive comes with backup software that is easy to use. You can use the software to schedule regular backups of your computer to the drive.
Overall, I am very happy with My Passport 5TB . It is a reliable and affordable external hard drive that offers a lot of storage space. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an external hard drive.

Garbage drive

This drive is complete garbage. I had to use diskutl just to get it to mount. Then when I did I couldn't write to the drive but could copy anything off of it so long as the machine didn't go to sleep in the process. If the machine goes to sleep the copying process stops, some data shows up in the Finder window but if you click on anything you get the standard error message stating the file is corrupted. If you're successful in mounting the drive and then try and unmount it you get the error in the photo provided. Notice that it shows nothing in the Finder window in the background. There are over 32k images on this drive. If I didn't back up in multiple places I would be in deep trouble.
I will never buy another WD HD again.

Expand PS4 Storage

I purchased this with one thing in mind, expanding the storage of my PS4 Pro. With the sudden influx of games exceeding 20-50 GB each, one can imagine the need to require a large hard drive. Sitting at 5TB and requiring no external power, the My Passport is perfect.
Using the hard drive, even in the PS4, was extremely easy. Requiring you just to plug it in. I was worried that because it is an external hard drive that it would be slower. Causing games to load textures slowly and having longer loading screens. Fortunately, I have found the opposite to be true.
With close to 4.5 TB of raw capacity to be used, I don’t foresee myself having a problem with storage anymore. It has proven to be incredibly reliable and fast enough to Be a competent expansion for a PS4

Purchased it one month ago; better price than Amazon. This is the latest model and it is slightly faster than the previous model. Can't comment on its included software because I only use these units for storage (music, photos, videos). Performance is flawless. Powered through the USB connection - no extra AC power unit needed. No need to alter formatting - worked out of the box in my Windows PCs. Higher capacity (an incredible 5T) yet thinner and smaller than previous WD units. Have owned several other WD Passport units for years - none have let me down. Does not get hot - just slightly warm. Opted online for Best Buy standard home delivery and it arrived within a few days.

Perfect for quick backups on the go with plenty of space and compatibility. 5TB in one small unit means protection of my most important files, projects, and other data, guaranteed. As a musician, I have always used WD portable hard drives to protect, backup, and store data from recording sessions with ease and efficiency.
WD external USB portable hard drives have been well known for many years to be a reliable go-to and industry standard in the portable data protection space.

I love the WD products. And I love their Passport external portable hard drives! This is my third one over the years and I am so happy with it. I have a lot that I store on external drives and with my other 2 external drives getting close to being full I knew I needed another one. I love that the 5TB size was available and I really love the price. WD is such a good and reliable brand, never disappointed with them! So user-friendly!

Just plug in to a USB port and it works. It's not crazy fast, as it has platters and is not an SSD, but the size, price, and capacity makes up for it. It has encryption if you need that feature. It'll be a little less than 5TB (as is the case with all drives). I have a bunch of these and I haven't had any issues.

I've owned dozens of these My Passports in the past from the older 2TB models up until this latest 5TB model and I have not one time had one die on me (The only time one of them died was when I sold it online and the guy said it arrived dead which was most likely a shipping issue or user mishandling). Yes, a 100TB USB drive of the same size would be much better (considering there's a 1TB Micro SD which is the size of a pinky nail) but for what it is, its the best option out there as far as value and reliability with massive storage space plus portability.
