    Security Camera System

Needed to purchase several drives for an NVR system for my apartment management. The NVR took up to 4 hard drives and felt 4TB each drive would be sufficient enough. The NVR at the time only had a WD Purple 1TB drive and it was barely enough to record 2 days, with 15 cameras. Needed these drives ASAP and had to travel about 40 miles to another city where the Best Buy had them. These are easy to install (if you are a techy), otherwise you could put them in an enclosure but at that point just buy an external hard drive. They weren't too badly priced, at least for what I was using them for. Personally don't care if they aren't Surveillance Hard Drives. AFAIK, there isn't much of a difference as they are both 24/7. Possibly the surveillance drives are more beneficial because of the constant read/writes.

So far these have been speedy, quiet and reliable drives in my NAS. I have no concerns leaving my NAS running 24/7 with these drives. They are pricey for a HDD, but if I can get 5 years or more from them it will be worth it.

It’s a solid drive and was a pretty cheap nas drive. Purely a good VALUE

Fast and quiet. I put two of these in a desktop, not in an NAS device. I can't hear them during transfers. Solid speeds, for a mechanical hard drive. No errors on extended testing with WD Dashboard.

WD Red Plus is ideal for NAS. I got one in 2020, love the speed and reliability. This Black Friday after Best Buy posted the deal I took it, no regret. Best value for excellent product!

Received a 'sealed' box, the drive static bag inside had been fully cut open. Not impressed -- whoever went to such effort to cheat BestBuy sucks. If Bestbuy repackaged this, it was sold 'as new' to me. Doesn't help my project backup.

Purchased these to put in a Western Digital My Cloud EX2 Ulta storage device. I have 2 of these 4tb drives in it to equal 8tb's total. Works great.

One of the best drives I put inside my Unraid server. On an average basis, I have 10-30TB of Read and Write from my servers on a daily basis.

this is my 2nd one, I really like my first one for its cool and quiet performance, which prompted me the get another one as soon as I saw them on sale...I am using them for media and data on my pc. Like I said very quiet due to the lower rpm and that results in them staying cool. This are NAS drives, so they are supposedly durable, but I then I still have green drives over 10 years old are still working so, it is all a crap shoot, but these drives do have a longer warranty than the green or blue. If you can find them on sale grab one or 2 and you will be happy.

I needed to build a fresh NAS/RAID array, and these did the trick. They are very quiet, and a good match for the WD RAID box I put them in.

I put a pair of these in an NAS 3 years ago. They've been running 24/7 ever since without a hiccup. So when I started getting space warnings, I purchased an expansion unit for the NAS and purchased this set of WD Reds. It was nice that BB happened to have them on sale at the time. They were initialized in Raid 1, no issues and running fine ever since. I use the system as a media server and for backup storage and expect these drives to last a long time.
