Several glitches: would not power on and had to be taken back to store by my elderly mother. It was bought as a Christmas gift and was a complete waste of money and time.

I bought this on a whim because the price was so good and the reviews were great. I don't need 4k, 3D or smart features. Personally, I prefer to have the smarts in a separate device (the bluray player) because that's cheap and easy to upgrade as technology advances. Also I use a separate sound system so I don't care about the speakers (although this TV's are fine). Simple TVs like this are getting hard to find. The TV was ridiculously easy to setup. Remove it from the package, attach the legs and plug in the power and HDMI cables. Like other reviewers recommended, I tweaked the video settings a little to change the picture from good to great. Note that the difference between the "home" mode and the "retail" mode is that retail mode let's you set the picture brighter. This is a separate mode because the brighter picture draws enough extra power to loose the "energy star" rating. The leg stands attach near the outside edge of the TV so it's very steady on the legs. Of course you can mount it on the wall too with separate hardware.

Excellent TV - Good Picture, Good Sound

I have absolutely no complaints. This is a great tv for the money. I have owned 6 big flat screen tvs (46" on up to 70") and had just returned a 50" piece of crud called a "Sceptre" from Wally World with terrible sound & mediocre picture. I was totally amazed at $299 how good the picture & sound is for this Westinghouse. You have to get into the MENU and adjust the picture to USER setting, back off the brightness a bit, increase the color & contrast to your liking. The same with the sound. Bump up the Bass & Treble to about 80%. It even has a surround setting. I don't think anyone buys a big screen TV for the sound. they ALL sound terrible, but this one sounds better then either one of my Samsungs with a few adjustments. Again don't be afraid to play around in the MENU for better picture & sound quality but it was pretty darn good right out of the box

For my first purchase in HD world, I think I did quite well. Under $300.00, good picture after some fine tuning. You'll need a sound bar, but don't go crazy, a low end one will do just fine. Don't ask for help from any employee's though...too busy on their phones to notice when someone needs help.

I've had this HDTV for about two days now and I'm very Impressed with it so far and given the price It's a win . I've had a few big HDTV's in the past well known names as well and again for the price I'm very Impressed, If your on a budget It's grate It's not a smart TV but it has a lot of bag for the buck . If you own a blue ray player or a Roku it turns into a Smart TV Just saying ... For under $400.00 with two years protection from Geek Squad what more can I say ...

I've had this tv for a year now. The tv itself looks great up on the wall mounted. Big! Picture is very good (after adjusting color) not like a Samsung or LG but good for my office needs and looks great for gaming. Only con is sound. It sucks. But like all other reviews, adding a sound bar fixes that issue. The remote could of looked more solid, but it's a remote. Ha ha. Overall have been very happy. Gonna upgrade the kids 32" tv's for Christmas with these bad boys!

This tv has an excellent picture, but the sound is lousy. However it does appear that most new - especially thin - tvs do have low quality sound forcing you to purchase a sound system. Once we bought a sound bar however, it hasn't been a problem. I found it odd that the tv looks better in 1080i rather than 1080p. Especially since 1080p is suppose to be a better quality image, but since it isn't a 4K tv I don't see the difference. There is one thing of note that I did find odd; my parents had bought a cheap tv for there camper, some random brand, Seiko I think, and the remote and menus on that tv and this one are exactly the same. I figured it was like android phones, different manufacturers same operating system. Honestly, if I had the money I would have bought a Sony or LG 4K ultra 3D smart tv, but since I'm on a budget this is a great second choice.

I don't typically take the time to write reviews but after reading several reviews online about this TV I felt compelled to leave my feedback to perhaps save others some trouble. The TV looks great coming out of the box and seems very nice. Things start to go downhill after that. The picture is nice and crisp even when playing video games on XBONE like Fallout 4 but the sound is absolutely terrible. My 2 year old Droid Maxx cell phone speakers sound better then these speakers. Imagine placing this TV at the end of a hallway, that's what it sounds like. It almost looks like the speaker openings face down and back which might account for the terrible sound. If you have a sound bar or something to run external speakers, get this TV as the picture is great. But if you want to use the built in speakers get a different TV.

I usually buy Samsung or Sony Tvs, wanted this for our cottage with an antenna. The picture is outstanding, sound is great. It is one of the few that will sit on my 10 inch deep mantle. The instructions are not as good as I hoped, nor the remote, but is is a great TV at a super price.

I had the Westinghouse 40" HDTV and was very happy with that. I wanted a 50 inch because the 40 was a tad small for the living room, so I ordered this one on clearance and could not be happier. I really like the way these Westinghouse TVs are designed. All the inputs in the back make sense to me, they throw a great picture at 1080p and they are rugged. I have had the 40" for a few years and have used the heck out of it with no issues. I'm not into anything more resolute than 1080p at the present (perhaps in a few years I will be interested) and I have no interest in a SMART TV at present. So, this one is PERFECT for those of us that just want a 50" 1080p HDTV. Perfect indeed. I give it a SOLID FIVE STARS.

I bought this TV last year on Cyber Monday and it is still working perfectly. This picture is clear, colors are good, and everything in regards to visuals are perfect from what I can tell. The sound quality isn't good on the TV (we have a modest surround sound setup we use instead) and I believe the speakers are in the back of the display, but for the price it's very bearable. I completely recommend this TV to anyone that is not an audio-quality-junky, and even then, if that's the case, you'd probably be very experienced in adding a better audio source.

The TV has a good picture comparable with all 1080P TV's It has all the basic features and menu system you find on all modern led TV'S. and good color balance and great great built in audio sound. The only con as to the basics is unit has poor sensitivity to the remote control. You need to point it exactly in the right position for it to operate and directly at the TV. I mounted this unit on the wall in our bedroom elevated five high above the floor. When laying in bed I had to hold the remote in the air to get the TV to respond. However the real issue is Best Buy specifications lists this unit as having a Digital Tuner. This TV does NOT Have a digital tuner. If you setup this TV using a direct Coax cable or outside antenna, you will not receive the digital channels. You must go through a cable box .I could not get it to scan and program my digital channels through my basic cable service. After almost a half hour of trying to find out why and reading the manual which did not provide an answer,I called Westinghouse support. It took tech support less than 15 seconds to tell me that this model does not have a digital tuner and will not scan digital channels using a direct cable connection, that it MUST go through a cable box to receive and program digital channels.

Awesome TV. Great picture !! Sound was ok, but I added a sound bar ($45 on Ebay) and it is great. I had to add a sound bar on my $1500 Samsung Ultra HD 65" TV so don't let the other reviews fool you. This is a great deal at $299

Was a little hesitant about buying after reading reviews but this TV is awesome for the money. Picture is as good as my $1000 Vizio. The sound could be better as mentioned in other reviews but is OK as is....OR... add a sound bar if you want better sound.

I purchased this TV for my in-laws and I was surprised by how great the picture is. I assumed, given the price, the picture would be ok, but it is great. I mounted it above their fireplace and they couldn't be happier. If you are not looking for a 4k, you can't go wrong this TV.

Great product. The picture is great, sound is good, remote and menu screens are kinda budget but I would rather those lack then the picture quality. If you are looking for a very quality product for a budget price this is a great option.
