First, I've created an account simply to warn others of this item and the Westinghouse brand in general. A quick google will reveal a consumer affrairs rating of one star for the brand in general- I had not seen this prior to my purchase as I was too eager to buy this very affordable TV. These reviews are from people who have had the product for an extended time- rather than the over zealous right-out-of-box reviews featured here. These TVs are nortorious for their lack of longevity and thus, cheap componets. My TV, less than a week out of box, experienced screen flicker from I can only assume were the vibrations of its own speakers. Classical music played at beyond half total sound capacity resulted in flicker when the music went into high octaves. This echoed reviews I read of sound and screen problems others experienced. Out-of-box everything seems great- picture is crisp, nothing cracked, but it appears the longest one will get out of a Westinghouse may be 3 years, if you're lucky. Save an extra hundred and go for a more reputable economy brand as I have. I'm only fortunate the problems manifested while still covered by the in-store warranty, as I'd hate to deal with their, once again, notoriously bad customer service. I write this as I know others like me do not have the luxury to replace a TV every two years.

This TV does a good job. Got it on sale for $250. All my family and friends were speechless when I told them the price tag. With the HDTV antenna I built from just wood and copper wire, the antenna tuner picks up 69 or 70 HDTV channels. The screen looks lovely. I only have two serious complaints, and my first frankly should have stopped being an issue in the 1980's – the remote. I can't believe how laggy it is, and it barely works from 6 feet away. It takes up to a full second for the TV to respond to a button press. This makes using the remote frustrating at best, and downright aggravating at worst. Westinghouse... WHY? Seriously. I'm embarrassed for you. It's 2016. FFS, modernize your remotes. Dear lord... Second, the audio isn't gain-staged very well at all. I use an external stereo system. The output is hot, almost always - and sometimes clipping. This behavior has nothing to do with the TV's volume setting. I attribute this to low-quality capacitors and op amps.

Sound bar, Sound bar! Trust me, you want this good TV to be a great TV, get a sound bar. Visio makes a great one that makes this TV SOUND NICE. Use the small digital cable for easy hook up, not the red and white cables, they won't work. Going to buy 2 more at this price

This tv has a great picture and good sound. For the money, this tv is excellent.

I bought this Television after purchasing a 40"(Westinghouse) for my sister in Dec 2012. Her 40" is still going strong. I purchased this 50" in Dec 2015. I have had NO problems with this TV. I suggest getting a sound bar or other speaker system due to all the newer tv's not having great sound due to the thinner design I believe. THIS TV is not a smart TV. I did not want a smart TV. I can add devices to this tv and make it as smart as I want. I have a ROKU and dvd player and laptop connected to it. TV functions very well and I would buy it again.

Got this unit during black Friday sale. Used it as bedroom TV, not as big as the one in living room. Perfect to watch when sitting on bed or bench. To me non-smart tv is a plus because I use apple tv instead. Overall great, especially considering the price. The only con is that the characters on the remote is really easy to scratch off ... I already have several buttons without signs ...

Excellent TV for the living room. Hung his up over the fireplace. Sound and picture are amazing! Highly recommend.

The television is perfect for movies and everyday tv. The one draw back is football viewing had to mess with the setting alot to get the optimum picture quality. Over all great tv.

This tv was on sale and has since been one of the most reliable tv I have ever purchased! Still works, without any issues, years later!

great if you dont need smart TV. Just watching TV, this is perfect. The IR remote has to be aimed right at the right bottom of the TV to work though.

this product will not give you a problem if you have a cable box or antenna input for you to use however if you are just going through local channels as i was it can't find the channels and if it does it is very fuzzy when i plug in my vizio to the same cable it works just fine with great picture quality. i had personally never used this brand and figured i would give it a shot and it was a bad idea so i exchanged it for a LG smart tv and it works 10 times better with better picture quality on everything. plus it had an extremely hard time getting any signals from the remote making it frustrating to use. if you look it up online these are all common problems with the westinghouse product line.

Purchased one for my son's birthday. He absolutely loves it!

I was so excited to get my new TV. Set it all up to find out screen is shattered. Now I have to deal with the hassle of shipping it back and haveing to wait for a new one to come. Not worth the bargain for the hassle. Should have spent more $ instead of going the cheap route.
