I purchased this freezer and brought it home this week. Plugged in and interior got cold, fast. This was great. Unfortunately, when I put my hand on the outside cabinet, sides and top, it was very warm - hot to the touch. So hot on the top of unit that I couldn't leave my hand on it very long. I unplugged unit and called Best Buy immediately. They were so great and taking back freezer tonight for another model. BB was very concerned about my experience and very professional. Note: this freezer was an open box/floor and I took it home with me vs. delivery.

Freezer works great except the alarm, may you have faith in noting with this one because clearly the door did not shut well enough and well nobody heard the alarm for over 24 hours. This isn’t due to a bad spot or anything this is a well trafficked area I have it in and now I’ve losses several hundred dollars of meats all because the alarm that it states is there clearly does not function. Only reason I found out is due to me wanting some steak.

Nice features but fails randomly

When this freezer works, it has good features, good capacity and life is good. However I have found that about once a month it stops responding to the thermostat, the compressor doesn't run, the temperature rises, no warning light or warning sound. I had this "repaired" once under warranty but the fault recurred several more times. Now I need a second warranty repair to be attempted before Whirlpool will even consider replacement. Buy this freezer at your own risk!

Bought this freezer 9 months ago and its starting to not freeze. We had pint icecream in the door and they were way beyond soft serve. Now we cant even put 4 things in the freezer after grocery shopping without the alarm going off. Huge waste of money calling on “limited warranty” but dont have high hopes.

Piece of Junk

I bought this upright freezer to replace a workhorse chest freezer my family owned for 50 years. That one still worked, but gobbled energy. This new Whirlpool upright has been nothing but problems in the 1 .5 years I’ve had it. It randomly shuts off every couple months with no warning. I only find out when I open it and stuff is melted. I’ve lost hundreds and hundreds in frozen meats due to this. I’m absolutely DISGUSTED.

Poor quality

Switch was fried and cost more to fix than replace. Lost $400+ of food.

We purchased this March 25,2019, today it stopped working. Save your money, 3 years for a freezer? I will never buy a Whirlpool product again. I have an old chest freezer that still works and it's from the 80's.

Terrible purchase. Motor makes loud buzzing noise. Best Buy and Geek Squad aware and promised exchange by not yet.
