I thought for sure being a brand-new dryer the clothes would only take one cycle of 70 minutes to dry even a small load I was wrong. All that being said for the price I paid it's a decent deal.

I tried to reduce the amount and it did better. However, it still had a hard time drying thick clothes like jackets.

What is going on is it takes two 70 minute cycles to dry one load. If you look at the review you will find that about 10 percent of these dryers arrive and dont work. That is a intolerable high failure rate. Whirlpool has agree to send someone out to look at it. So hopefully it all works out.
