    Good Operating System

I used to hate Windows 10 when it first came out. I tried the free upgrade version on and off when it was available. But when it started letting me make changes to it, so it would be more like Windows 7, my opinion started changing. I purchased Windows 10 Home recently for a new Ryzen 7 build I did and naturally with a powerful computer like this Windows 10 runs flawless. On older PC's or laptops, it runs better or at least as good as Linux OS installations. It seems that after you get all the hardware drivers updated and all the Windows Updates installed, it gets better and better. Windows 10 is probably the best Operating System available today. A little pricey, but a very good OS. Just remember if you buy the OEM version and you install it on a laptop, when that hardware ages or it fails, you can't transfer that Windows 10 license. On a desktop your OK, unless you change more than one part. That's why I bought this version, so I don't have to worry about this for quite some time.

My hard drive, running Windows 7 quit. Along with replacing the HD, it made sense to upgrade to Windows 10. I did this reluctantly, since my new laptop ran W10 and I wasn't thrilled. Well, after using it for a while, I'm happy I made the switch. The W10 platform is more modern, better integrated with my other devices, and offers more features. Turns out that I'm very happy I made the switch. EXCEPT FOR... I use a Logitech wireless mouse. Now, my cursor moves at random times, which can drive me crazy during work. I've seen comments on W10 where people have similar issues. So far, I have not been able to troubleshoot whether it is Windows or the mouse or settings on my touch screen. Very frustrating! I sort of wish there was a 3 1/2 star rating I could give this.

    Kept getting error message

I kept getting an error message when trying to install this and I tried every option presented to me. I ended up having to use my laptop (thank goodness I had another computer) to download windows 10 onto my personal flash drive and going through that route. When it asked for the key code, I used the one found in the box with the windows flash drive. Worked just fine and I had no problems doing this way. I'm still not entirely sure why I had to do this. My guess is that the computer hardware (motherboard and bios) was too new or something. Not sure but I'm just glad it worked out in the end and that the purchase wasn't a waste of money (only required a little bit of time and troubleshooting). In the future, I would just download windows 10 on my flash drive again and buy a key code. It really wasn't that hard to do.

I won't go into detail about windows 10. You can find far more comprehensive reviews from far more qualified individuals elsewhere so I'll speak to the box. What you get is a flashdrive with Windows 10, a quick how-to, and a product key. This is the full retail version which means you can transfer it between computers / motherboards as needed (one at a time obviously). The version on the USB stick will need updates downloaded and may take a bit longer to install fully than making your own windows 10 stick but it can save you the cash of buying another USB while having a fully legit Windows 10 copy. I bought mine in store

I loved my Windows XP. I loved my Windows 7. I am mostly in love with my Windows 10. I wanted to put off switching over from Windows 7, but when I built my new gaming system I wanted to take advantage of the way it handles RAM and processors. For performance, you have more of an edge with Windows 10 and also for gaming you really need to move from Windows 7. If you are not into gaming performance, then by all means Windows 7 will handle most things. But remember that software manufacturers are building for Windows 10 now and Microsoft will phase out support for Windows 7 at some point. There is no reason not to upgrade now "if" you are building a new system or want more performance.

    The Terror of Windows 10

After trembling in fear each time a friend mentioned moving up to Windows 10, I experienced a Hard Drive crash and since I did not have the original CDs for Win 7, I opted to have Best Buy install a new version of Windows 10. I have been using it now for about a month and for the life of me, have found nothing bad about it so far. I admit I am using a 'Windows 10 For Beginners' book but have not had to reference it, except to remove the apps that I did not want on the program. If any of you have the same terror that I did about Windows 10, let all of that go. It's there in the background, helping when you want it to. I'm happy I begrudgingly made the transition.

I installed another copy of Windows on an Acer Aspire One. I read on the internet that it could be done and it worked fine. This was a bad mistake, now I am stuck with it, there is no going back. I should have put Linux on this machine. I can always get out of that one. I installed this copy on an HP G72. So far I have not had any problems. The moral to this story is make sure this is what you want and that it will run on your computer. Three stars is the average between the five stars I would give the HP and zero stars I would give to what I got with the Acer. I would recommend this to a friend with a note of caution.

    Basic OS for Windows

This purchased OS of Windows Home is a lot easier than trying to get it from Microsoft. Besides the certificate of license that is required to register your computer, it comes with a bootable USB drive for ease of recovery. I like this better than getting a DVD copy of the OS since it is compact, convenient, and not subject to breakage like a disc is. The cost is pretty much mandated by Microsoft so there are not typically a lot of wiggle room on the price. Plus this is the HOME version. If you need to login to a local domain, you will have to get the PRO version. The price is cheaper to buy it up front rather than trying to upgrade to PRO after installing the HOME version.

    Updated old computer

Had an old computer that was planning on giving to my nephew for his birthday. It had crashed a while back and ended up needing a new hard drive. With the new hard drive, it would not connect to the internet and I couldn't figure out why. It was easier for me to get a new computer than to deal with that "mess" at the time. My nephews birthday was coming up and he is at the age and grade in school where they are going to be using computers more and more so I updated it with Windows 10 from Windows 7 and gave it to my nephew. He was stoked! I'm sure right now he is only playing games on it but the hard drive should last him a good long time and with Windows 10 the possibilities are endless.

I still like my Windows 7. However, some of my software (Native Instruments) was a PITA to install on 7 last time, due to software upgrades. Soo, Win10 for my main music thrasher. Yes, Microsoft wants to play big brother and copy Apple gestapo. However, there are ways to get around a lot of the forced updates/privacy issues..Do a bit of google search or talk to your nerd friends. Highly suggest doing the updates in your own time as Microsoft loves to break your machine with their "updates" Feels a bit more streamlined then 7, ie, I don't have to dig quite as hard to find certain system bits as I did with 7. however, 7 or 10..they both work.

I've been using this OS consistently for the past two years and I still can't get over how bad it is for the average consumer. 100% disk usage problems, privacy nightmares, bloatware that is near impossible to remove (looking at you Xbox, Messaging, and all that other garbage I'm never going to use), and a myriad of other "upgrades" that make me want to pull my hair out. Can we PLEASE just go back to the days of a stripped down OS? The only reason that I don't revert back to 7 or XP is for the fact that I use modern programs which cause proformance errors and stability issues with older OSs.

I was doing an upgrade from Windows 8.1. The computer had the free upgrade, but one day hiccupped and reverted back to window 8. The free windows 10 upgrade was no longer available. So I purchased windows 10 and it breezed through the install. What was interesting, was the fact that it didn't ask for the product code. I assume it used the computer's original one, that was used for the free upgrade. So I have windows 10 installed on one computer and have the ability to install it on another, if it needs s product code, i.e. older Vista needing upgrade.

I'm a Microsoft guy through and through. I typically build my own machines so I don't get the license with the computers. Unfortunately, something went horribly wrong with my boot sector and I was unable to recover my system. The system was operating off an upgraded Windows 7 license and Microsoft stopped providing the free upgrade to 10 in 2017, so I needed a license. I appreciate the thumb drive. It worked quick on a USB 3.0 port and I was back up and running in no time. Fortunately, my data was all backed up, so I didn't lose anything!

This seems to be a common problem, the USB drive would blue screen. Solution is to download a newer image (free) from Microsoft. The license key included is good though, and what you are really buying. I have seen horror stories of email delivered keys that were invalid, or grey market and leave you with nothing for your money. That was why I picked one up from Best Buy in a sealed box. Would have been nice if the USB key booted, but it wasn't much hassle to make a new one.

Windows 10 Home is installed on a Dell Inspiron laptop with 16GB RAM and Intel i7 processor. Still, at times I am waiting for processes to finish. Startup sometimes takes 30 seconds or more. There are times the machine is unresponsive or black screens. These always concern me because I have lost other laptops after the hard drives have been corrupted if the machines get shut down in this state. The OS has to phone home which creates difficulties using it on the road with my cell phone as hotspot.

So, its becoming that time as if I’m correct support for Win7 will end in 2020/21? I was researching the security updates and Windows and in early 2018 there was finally an update that worked for me.. S I finally made the jump running Win10 on one of my 4 PCs, I cant complain. Aside from the difficulty of getting used to a new GUI system thats about it. Auto driver install system is far beyond Win7 and the fact that it upport USB3.0 without hunting down drivers all over the net is a bonus...

Flawless installation onto my very fast EVO 970 PRO NVme SSD. I want to say that my installation took about 12 minutes tops. Windows 10 is the answer to the previously released Windows 8/8.1:) I have only been happy with the latest builds and updates of Windows 10. Things are very easy to find, more Cortana automation (if you like AI and automated help) perfect for gamers, designers and ideal for music and video editing. You will enjoy Windows 10

I am not a Windows novice having used it since 3.1. Some have been OK, others not so much. Windows 10 is a nightmare. Full of glitches. Most annoying is that it shuts down the internet connection at will. Then, after installing a number of programs, all controlled by one main program it managed to lose it all. Will they ever learn how to make the customers happy and put out a good product? Obviously they just want the money. I know several people who are having the same problems and are having their computers wiped and Windows 7 installed.

I was so comfortable using Windows 7 on my Mac Pro through Bootcamp that I did not want to go through the ordeal of having to learn Windows 10. However, I realized I was so “behind the times” that I had to. And I am glad I did. Some of the material I had printed and bound into books at the printer had to have the font changed before they could print the material. For this reason alone, it was well worth the update. The 4 stars I gave it representes my difficulty in learning how to use it - many confusing changes until I learn how to use it.
