A really good Wolverine movie with a great cast to boot. Very, very loosely based on the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller Wolverine mini-series, this follows Wolverine after the events of the X-Men: Last Stand movie and leads into the X-Men Days Of Future Past movie. Wolverine heads to Japan where he meets Mariko and tussles with Viper and the Silver Samuri. The blu-ray transfer is beautiful and included both theatrical and extended cut of the movie. Can't speak to the 3d version because I don't have a 3d tv.

I had moved and was having issues getting cable and internet hooked up, for like two months, so on Black Friday last year I went to Best Buy and bought a bunch of movies to keep myself entertained (I’d switched to digital over the years, and not having internet meant I couldn’t watch any of them). I picked out some of my favorite movies and made it through the dark times lol.

A very good and entertaining movie, and am happy to add this to my collection. Best buys value priced BluRay w Digital HD collection of movies are second to none. I belong to a few movie clubs but always am able to find a good selection here when I want both the BluRay along with the Digital HD movie to add to my collection.

I'll admit, I had a hard time with this movie at the theater. I am one of the (very) few who actually loved "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", and was expecting "Part 2" of that film. I had to let this film digest a while, before I realized - it is closer to the comic books, and the character, than any previous X-Men film (save Nightcrawler in X2, Beast in The Last Stand). After I let my "nerd rage" subside, and followed the director James Mangold's comments on Twitter, I felt enlightened & more informed to make a decision on how I "feel" about this film. I suddenly remembered that I DON'T remember much about Wolverine's (multiple) origin(s) in the books, and really never truly cared for the books' confusing version much back then. I actually stopped reading "just for Wolverine" after a while. The 2 films are a more clear, concise roadmap to the character we know & love *in the film universe*. Therein lies the most important part. While Mangold told his own story, he took elements - aesthetically & literally - from the books. Not too many, not telling the same old story we all knew for decades - just some elements to keep "the real fans" at least appeased for the moment. So, while this is the Earth-10005, there are Easter eggs & hints - even some panel to frame elements - particularly in this film that keep things close to home. There are things I thought I would not like (Silver Samurai), that I ended up liking better than their comic counterparts. To put it simply, the basic, well known SS just wouldn't work on film as just a "guy in the suit". The giant, mechanized version simply made more "real" sense, cinematically. Had the same effect on me as the "fake Mandarin". Would have been just too corny to be believable on film. Also, BONE CLAWS! *(Really helped my "X-Men 4" script along:) If there was something lacking, it was Viper. It was "Batman & Robin" Poison Ivy, with molting skin, all over again. Bad acting. Worse dialogue (much too obviously overdubbed). Almost ruined the movie for me. Did not fit the film, at all. We had already seen Lady Deathstrike, and the Godsend that is Mystique, so we didn't need another "sexy" female foe. Seemed more like a already bad Spider-Man villain gone even more wrong. But, if you've seen Mangold's "Call Of Duty Ghosts" commercial with Megan Fox, you''ll see he seems to love his overly breathy (campy), vampy ("Hey stud, how about a...") women. Perhaps a bit TOO "comic booky"?!? Sorry, JM - I tried to like her, I really did...! I have not yet watched the extras, mainly because once I start, I can't stop! I like watching the film with Commentary, then Deleted Scenes, then ALL the extras, in one sitting. Soon, I promise, soon. Much the reason I bought the version with the most content. I'll have to send the wife & kids off on a day trip, and just immerse my mind. I may use the Digital version (this time), on my tablet, for research while writing my script(s). I do wish all of the films were more tightly entwined, as the books were, and as The Avengers appear to be. Therefore & thusly, yes I would have went a slightly different route (and I have some great ideas for "Wolverine 3";), I wish Logan & Mariko's relationship would have felt "deeper" & continued much longer, but I still love this film. It's a great addition to the collection. Perhaps I am biased. The "X-Men" films are my favorite film series. As a comic fan, I wish this and that. As a film fan, i have yet to find anything else that I watch, study, think or talk about any more. My family is on the verge of banning X-Men from our house!

The extended cut isn't all that extended and just a little more violent than the original. The 3D is really not needed for this movie but still a fun time. The movie was $10 and I can see why. No harm or foul for the purchase.

I remember liking The Wolverine when it first hit theaters. I haven't watched it since, unfortunately. But as I revisited the film recently, it still holds up well as a fun superhero adventure. Hugh Jackman is awesome.

If you enjoy this type of movie, you will enjoy it more in 3D. Just make sure you have a 3D blu ray player and a 3D capable tv. Note that 3D disks play on Xbox One. Also, don't forget your 3D glasses.

This movie, although with its fair share of flaws, is a wayyyy better experience viewing and narrative wise from the previous movie. The blu Ray viewing is beautiful as well.

    A Better Wolverine

Picking up shortly after the end of X-Men 3, this film follows Logan (aka: Wolverine) in seclusion as well as on a trip to Tokyo to pay final respects to an old, dying friend whose life he saved during World War II. Much is afoot, however, as Wolverine encounters a trail of gangs, corrupt politicians and family squabbles, all of which threaten the life of his departed friend's granddaughter, whom Wolverine must now protect. But he suddenly finds that something is also wrong with himself as his power to heal and regenerate seems to be waning. What Wolverine does not realize is that he is the real target. Much more of this film is focused on Wolverine's character development than in the first Wolverine film and Wolverine is virtually the only mutant character. The regret over the necessity to kill Jean Grey consumes Logan's mind. He is haunted by visions and vivid dreams of Jean throughout the film. It's refreshing to see the human side of Wolverine and not so much portrayed as the invincible cigar-smoking, wise-cracking killing machine we've seen in other X-Men films. X-Men films tend to have far too many characters for there to be any real development or solid plot, so it's a treat to have so much focus on a single character for a change. The final scene of the film leads directly into the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past, so if you're planning to see it, see this first!
