I normally do not like the games that come from a "Movie"... but WOW I was shocked! This is a really good game. Fighting and hunting Orcs is a great concept. If you haven't seen this game check out YouTube but you will not be disappointed if you buy it. Have fun!

I say unexpectedly having read all of the great reviews, but I got it as strictly a time killer while I was waiting for Elder Scrolls Online to go live. I didn't really have any intention of getting very far in the story mode, I just wanted to knock around in the world for three weeks or so. The combat system was so much fun that I could have just done that for the whole time. I ended up completing a lot of the side quests and actually did start the story mode because the game play was just that strong. Given the fact that the game has been out for a bit now and you can get it at an extremely discounted price, it's a no brainer and would have been worth it on launch day.

I love this game, it's like assassin's creed but LOTR style. Fun sword gameplay, story, and graphic, but it's just pure fun mowing down orc armies (usually capable later in the game). Must Buy!

this game has action in spades. It has a decent story and some great visuals. If you enjoy the combat in the recent Batman games or Sleeping Dogs, then this is right up your alley. What makes this game great is the new "nemesis system" that randomly generates major enemies for you that you have to take down over time. Each one having unique traits and a memory of your previous encounters. Easily one of the best games I have played on the new gen systems.

Excellent graphics, good game play. Some of the challenges are too difficult for a casual gamer - I like to win easily and enjoy the game. It's my escape from reality and sometimes it's a little too difficult for that.

Smooth gameplay, fun nemesis system makes the world dynamic. Story is serviceable but doesn't detract from the game. Can't wait for the next one.

Really good game for the story and the gameplay. Love the assassins creed series and this was that kind of game in the LOTR universe.

I love the RPG and action-adventure elements in SoM. The combat style is reminiscent of the Batman Arkham series, where you want to combine attacks for high combos and counter/dodge enemies. It's very fun and intuitive. The leveling system is simple yet interesting, and it allows you to customize your character to your game style. I personally leveled up the bow, with lots of arrows and focus to really get off some head shots. I will likely replay this fun game and try a different method next time.

Let me just up and say that Shadows of Morder is THE best sleeper hit of the year. Forget Destiny, forget CoD. This game took the cake in sheer gameplay value over anything else I've played this fall. If you know anything about the game than you won't be disappointed in the purchase. The Nemesis system that they've boasted during production is absolutely awesome. No two encounters feel exactly the same. Each orc has its own personality and particular fighting style. They also all have different traits, from the lowly peon up to the battle hardened war chiefs. The combat is also top notch. Taking the best aspects of Assassins Creed, and combining it with the free flow combat of the Batman Arkham games. Stringing together brutal combos and deadly execution moves from stealth or open combat is a real breeze. Despite the ease of usage, the combat itself contains a fair amount of challenge. You need to pay attention to prompts and the enemies around you as the right hit can kill you very quickly. I could likely go on and on about this game. But you just have to play for yourself to see how great it turned out to be after the long production timeline.

This game plays a like a combination of the Assassins creed and the Batman Arkham games. It's extremely entertaining and has a lot of replay value. I would say that this game is a bit graphic for children but perfect for the aged gamer. Certainly has some appeal for Lord of the Rings fans and sword fighting enthusiasts. Great game that I would highly recommend for anyone looking for something new but with a familiar feel if that makes sense. There's very few reasons not to enjoy this game.

I am about 7-8 hours into the game right now. So understand where that review is coming from. I've read other reviews from about 20 hours in that state it gets more into the story, so I'm looking forward to that. The graphics are really great. I got this game primarily because I heard it was very similar to Assassin's Creed 4 (AC4). It is very similar, but the graphics are noticeably better. The fighting is very similar, in that it isn't your two-hits-to-kill an enemy. You will be striking, countering, dodging as you kill your enemy (most likely enemies). If you are okay with the combat in AC4, you will be fine here. The story line is interesting. I love the LOTR movies and Hobbit, and don't know if this follows from the Middle Earth Universe Tokien created, but it is made to fill in the gap between Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy. It makes sense, defeating Sauron's army and everything, so that's fine. I've got no problems. It is definitely an action game rather than an adventure. You are primarily fighting and completing quests/missions rather than exploring like you would in the Elder Scrolls games. Overall, very pleased with the purchase!!

Though this game reminds me heavily of Assassins Creed it holds its own when you add the Lord of the Rings elements into the game play. The Ai in game is like nothing I have seen in any other game before. One minute you could be fighting 1 orc then 12 more come along. The level progression is quite unique also in that it doesnt have that typical RPG feel but follows more of an action platform for level progression. I mean this as you gain abilities and not stat additions. Its a very fun game though and the cinematics and game play graphics are very well done. Chopping off the heads of orcs can also be very entertaining.

Combat flows really well (think Batman). Story is interesting; rather than a copy-paste of LOTR games, Mordor seems to primarily draw from the Silmarillion. Voice acting is top-notch across the board, and the nemesis system keeps everything interesting - enemies remember you, whether you defeated them, or they defeated you.

Great fun slashing orcs as you unlock abilities. Nemesis system is great as villains evolve based on how you play.
