This game is very much like its original which is turn based. It has an easy learning curve but it is difficult even at the most easiest level. The game gets a little bit irritating because of the difficulty it normally is. The cut scenes might drag a little even though it is short. It becomes repetitive and I don't think it is necessary to show it every time. There might be a little lag time in the game. The game is too realistic also. Sometimes the enemies are shot through the walls even without destroying the objects in the way.

One of my favorites games. There are so many FPS games out there. It is refreshing to play a game that is different. I've played through it once, which counts for a lot coming from me, because I rarely completely finish games. I eventually bore of them. I may even play through XCOM a second time, I enjoyed it that much. The graphics are good and structures can be destroyed. A few problems. At times you can shoot through walls. And, the game has locked up on me a few times. Also, one time my sniper couldn't end his turn, an obvious bug. And, there needs to be a greater variety in the maps. Many of them are similar. Hopefully they will have add ons to the game and have more maps. And, have a fix that takes care of the bugs. Even with its faults I recommend the game a lot. The pluses greatly outweigh the minuses.

Xcom was my game of the year when it came out. Get it, its cheap.

An excellent update to the awesome classic versions for PC! Nothing short of spectacular from what I have seen so far. In some parts I have been able to shoot through walls which is odd, but very few downfalls to this game at all. If you are a fan of the old games, this one is a super fun addition to the franchise. Too hard for young kids to play but my 4 year old enjoys watching me take the aliens down. Alien blood but not excessive, and the technology research and base upgrades make the game highly replayable.

I really love that they brought back this old favorite and the improvements in gameplay, characters, and graphics is awesome, but the overall story line, while interesting to start, ended quickly and was surprisingly shallow.

Some performance issues aside, this game is a must have.

If you played the original version of this game on the PC in the 90s or just love turn based strategy games this item is a must buy for you. I logged months of playtime on the original and even after completing the story still pop this in for head to head matches at least once a week. Quite possibly the best PS3 game I have ever played.

good game - but too much resource management and not enough action - how you manage your base is crucial and not a lot of fun (imo) - the ground battles with your squad are great and very addictive - but after the first few it is obvious they are less important than how well you maintain and manage your base in terms of winning the story's campaign - this game is for serious strategy-game fans, which i am not - ***

So you're a soldier blowing up aliens? Awesome game right? RIGHT. The core objective is simple, but the strategy runs deep. You're constantly on toes in this one because of the AI they put in this game - the enemy is actually coordinated. There's a few frame tears I've noticed with the PS3 version, but nothing too bad.

What I ended up with was one of the most unique strategy game experiences available on the PS3. Even if this genre isn't your thing, you should give it a try.

Picked it up for $15 new and sealed. Metacritic reviews are right. Cool and engaging sci-fi game. Give it a try.

EVERYTHING ABOUT XCOM IS ABSOLUTELY BOSS. YOU OWN A BUNCH OF ALIENS, SAVE EVERYONE AND SHOOT ROCKETS ALL OVER THE PLACE BECAUSE YOU'RE A TOTAL BOSS. GET IT.

An oldschool turn based shooter, with full HD graphics, extreme doing and excellent reliability.

Very solid gameplay for the PS3 version of this game. There were a few times where the graphics would mess up but the overal gameplay is fun if you like turn based games.

The game really gets that old XCOM feel right, while adding enough to make it feel fresh.

I've been a huge fan of XCOM, and shooters are becoming stale. Taking XCOM back to its roots has been fantastic.

Good strategy games on consoles are few and far between. Great ones are practically nonexistent on consoles. Luckily for us strategy junkies Firaxis delivers on all fronts with XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Every choice you make can be the difference between earth's salvation, or humanity's demise. To cut to the chase, if you love strategy this game will not disappoint.
