Customers recognize the engaging gameplay, lovable Yo-kai, and great story as significant strengths of the Pre-Owned Yo-kai Watch. The unique battle system and charming humor also receive positive feedback, with many citing the game's entertainment value and fun factor. Some players find the Yo-kai catching mechanic challenging, however. Overall, the game is praised for its immersive world and enjoyable side quests.

Yo-Kai watch is an Adventure / RPG game developed by Level 5 for the Nintendo 3DS system. You control Nate, a bug catching kid who stumbles upon a mysterious spirit who gives Nate the Yo-Kai Watch. So what is a "Yo-Kai"? Well essentially it is a ghost or a spirit that is able to influence people with different traits both good and bad. Using the Yo-Kai Watch, Nate must travel around town locating Yo-Kai, battling them, and befriending them to use on his team. It's a pretty simple concept, and the battle system is more interactive than say a Pokemon game, as the user has to interact with his Yo-Kai on the touchscreen by tapping, drawing, tracing, and more while the Yo-Kai automatically attack. Nate can issue items, execute special moves, and even revive Yo-Kai in battle. In addition, Nate can configure six of his Yo-kai on his watch to create special team-up bonuses and can adjust on the dial as necessary in battle. There is a lot of humor that adults will get more than kids, and some of the dialogue is pretty zany. However, the game is bright, easy to play, and overall a lot of fun! One of the Nintendo 3DS sleeper hits of 2015. Highly Recommended.

If you have heard anything about this game, it is probably that it is exactly like Pokemon. And it is. You collect random little creatures. Some cute, others not. Its kinda childish, yet strangely addictive. But it really isn't pokemon. The battles are much different and actually kinda harder. No more affinity system so you never have to worry about elemental advantages. Down side is the collecting. It isn't nearly as fair as pokemon is. Honestly, it can be a little irritating. But overall, it is rather fun and its finally that pokemon game with a new twist that everyone has been craving

This is an amazing RPG. I read reviews that compared it to pokemon, but I don't think that does this game justice at all; the only thing similar between this game and pokemon is that you can collect "creatures" and you use the "creatures" to battle.
Yo-Kai Watch has a great story and an awesome world with great narration, visuals, and mechanics. The battling system takes a bit to get used to since it is very unique, but it's great once you understand it.
The game mechanics are simple enough for anyone to pick up and enjoy and all of the mechanics are introduced at a reasonable pace so you don't feel overwhelmed when you first pick it up. At the same time, there is enough complexity for players who love to tinker their team and get the most out of their Yo-Kai.
It took me 25 hours to complete the story, that's with doing less than 10 side-quests (I saved them for the end) and taking some time to try and befriend (capture) the Yo-Kai I wanted. There's a ton of end game content as well and I recommend getting the Prima guide if you really want to get the most out of every situation, its incredibly helpful with finding out how to befriend Yo-Kai, figuring out which ones you would want on your team, and providing a map and where you can find certain Yo-Kai.

Yokai Watch is often compared with the Pokemon series, and it does share some similarities. Over time, however, and likely largely due to Pokemon's success, monster collecting games have almost become their own sub-genre. Yokai Watch shares pokemon's monster collecting premise, but that's about where the similarities end.
Yokai Watch takes place in a large town, packed with secrets and goodies to find. The game really rewards exploring every inch of its world. The battle system is simple to learn, but challenging and fun to master, with factors such as a Yokai's personality, tribe, abilities and more. The dialogue and characters are simple, but clever, fun, and lively. This is only the first installment in the series, and there are a lot of things to be expanded upon, but Yokai Watch is overall a very polished first entry, with a lot to love.

The game has great graphics and interesting side quests and story line. I wish it had more powerful moves for the yo- Kai as they level up though

For all the reviews out there comparing this game to Pokemon, I feel obliged to say that Yo-kai Watch is not Pokemon. Pokemon starts out very easy and slowly ramps up in difficulty until the end of the story mode. Yo-kai Watch starts off at a higher difficulty and never lets up. I've been enjoying the gameplay but the sheer number of quests and Yo-kai will lead to a lot of sleepless nights for completionists. Also quests unlock even when they are impossible to complete at the character's current Watch Rank. Overall, a great game, not as kid-friendly as Pokemon, but one with a better story.

With all the comparison to Pokemon this has on it, I'm here to say it's actually nothing like Pokemon outside of the aspect you "collect" little monster friends. Yokai Watch puts more emphasis on the fact that you befriended them instead of catching them as in Pokemon. You either fight and defeat a Yokai to impress them so they'll join you, or you befriend them by giving them food to eat in the midst of battle.
Even though theres objectives to do, and a story to follow, you still have a good range of freedom to just walk around and explore the city. While some parts of the map may be blocked out in the beginning of the game, there's still plenty of places to go. You'll find there there are very little messages or none at all that read "Where are you going? We need to go -objective here-"
The battle system is also quite unique, it's not turn based. But it's not exactly "action" either. I wouldn't really know how to categorize it but it's fun! Your Yokai friends will attack as they will, you don't command them to do anything. After all you can't really control your friend and tell them what to do. They have their own free will. But your assistance is still needed in battle! Swap 'em in and out, purify them of status aliments (or stop them from being insprirted as this game says!) give them items to help them regain HP back and all that good stuff. And help them charge up for their "Soultimate" attack! It's your help that could make or break a battle! So be sure to help your pals out, after all they're helping YOU by fighting for you anyway, it's the least you could do.
There's a neat fusion and evolution aspect to your Yokai as well, not much to explain here. I mean if you've played other games that have functions like these you can pretty much guess what it's like.

This game is amazing, and I can see why it became the next big craze in Japan. It has an interactive battle system which most games are lacking today, it's got some great characters and a passable story. I enjoy going around town and searching for new Yo-Kai instead of just walking around waiting for random battles. It offers some flexibility in how and when you want to fight, which is extremely refreshing.

Everyone compares Yo-Kai Watch to Pokemon. I don't think that's a fair comparison. I enjoy both thoroughly. If you like quirky humor and a polished experience, I would try this game. The only downside is there is some fetching and some confusion with the map. However, I think both of those issues are minor.

Very enjoyable game. Lots of monsters to catch and level up. The side quests are great even though the main story is a little slow to get going. My main complaint is that Yo-Kai are a little difficult to catch and not enough of them evolve early or combine.

My daughter loves this game. Very entertaining, with monster collection and battles - seems similar to Pokemon in that respect. I would recommend to kids and teenagers/young adults (the salesperson that helped me seemed to also love this game).

The 3d graphics are amazing! I rarely use the 3d on games. The story is fun and the world is vast. I am slightly disappointed by the lack of depth in the battling. Although it's fairly simple, it's still a lot of fun

You're a kid who catches bugs, but one stumble in the forest you find an ancient machine that would kickstart your YoKai adventure! It's fun and it is its own game. It reminds me of Pokemon, but you befriend ghost, or in Japanese and the title says, YoKai! Battling YoKai doesn't take much strategy as the Pokemon games, but are made up of a spin wheel to choose which three YoKai to put out on the field, and mini games of a chosen YoKai to activate its special move. One gripe I have is its open world. Some areas are locked making it feel more of a linear game, forcing you to follow the story. But it is not a big deal because the game is fun!

Yo-kai Watch is a monster catching RPG and often compared to Pokemon. I liked the setting of the game and the graphics were colorful and nice to look at. The yo-kai designs are also cool and each one has their own personality.
What ultimately made the game bad for me was the yo-kai catching mechanic, which seemed to have really low success rates even when using the best food that each yo-kai liked. If you don't succeed, you have to find them again which can sometimes take a while, and the entire process can get old quick.
If you can get past the weird catching mechanic or have better luck than me though, it is a good game.

The game boasts a cute cast of characters and a fun story for kids. The Yo-Kai look and feel different enough for each of them to have some personality. The only downside is that in a game as quirky as this every Yo-Kia (in your team of three) fights using the same set 3 Cooking Mama motions (trace, tap, or spin) which is the users only real activity in the battle. I hope in the sequel they expand and improve the battle system. Overall, the game is cute and quite fun.

This isn't Pokemon and shouldn't be compared to it at all. Yes, you go around and capture creatures (spirits in this game), but the way in which you do so is completely different. You don't whittle down their health and then throw a ball at them. No, instead you can give them food and what not during battle and then hope they come up to you afterward and want to join your party. You also don't pick every move your party does (3 of which are on the screen at a time) and you can rotate left or right in your party of 6 as often as you want. Each character has a "Soultimate" attack as well as some stats that depend on how they act to the point where you can get bonuses for putting certain spirits next to each other. You'll also be using the lower screen a LOT so get your stylus ready! The nice thing is you don't HAVE to use the stylus. You can use the circular pad and the A button, but the stylus does make it a whole lot easier. I'm 26 years old and I've been enjoying this game and I'll be buying it for my little sisters as well.
