Rexing – Peace Of Mind & Makes Me A Better Driver
Posted .For my daily routine driving around town, work, shopping, picking up my Grand Kids, and family trips, the Rexing V1 Plus has proven to be a game-changer. For almost four weeks this Rexing Dash Cam has given me peace of mind knowing that I now have video security in case of any road events or mishaps. To me it's almost like having an insurance policy, but I don't have any monthly premiums to pay. WooHoo! After the first two weeks of use and playing back some of my video footage, I thought to myself – I need to drive more cautiously and carefully now that I am recording my own driving routines. So, I don't roll through Stop Signs anymore instead I come to a complete stop; I make sure I am aware of, and, driving the speed limit (or, just a teeny, weeny bit over); and, I yield to all pedestrians in crosswalks when I am turning at any intersection. I give bicyclists lots of room and anyone walking on a road without an adjacent sidewalk. In short, I have become a better driver while using this Rexing Dash Cam. It's not like Big Brother is watching me at all. I alone am responsible for my driving habits, yet at the same time I feel more secure while the Dash Cam is recording the toad in front of me while I am driving my car. Here's what I love about this Rexing Dash Cam: ** Simple Set-Up – Once I went through the various settings in the Menu and selected my desired options I was pretty much finished with the Dash Cam set-up. I could always revisit the Menu and change any of my selected options later. I also had the choice to use the Factory Default Settings in place of my own choices for all of the selections. Most of my selections were Default Settings. When I received my V1 Plus Dash Cam I plugged it in to a USB power source in my house to charge it up. As I sat comfortably in my chair I went through all of the various settings options with the power ON. The included User Manual gave me detailed explanations of each setting so I customized this Dash Cam to my own personal preferences. There are 9 Video Settings in the Video Menu to deal with; 14 System Settings in the Systems Menu; and 12 Photo Settings in the Still Menu in Photo Mode. It took me about 15 minutes to go through and select my options. I am not going to list all of the options and selections, however they are available at the product's Best Buy website. When I was through setting-up my Dash Cam I was ready and anxious to install this baby in my car. ** Simple Installation – I ordered the Rexing Windshield Suction Cup Mount and mounted my Dash Cam just under my rear view mirror (see pics). The Dash Cam under my rear view mirror is an unnoticeable location and not a distraction to my driving. This mounting location for the Dash Cam also gives me access to the control buttons, screen, and takes up only a small footprint of space (see pics). I followed the Rexing wiring installation guide in the Users Manual. I was able to conceal the wire from my camera to my car's power outlet neatly, and it only took me approximately 15 minutes. Rexing provides a cable concealment tool, which made my installation so much easier. And, since the furnished power cable is approximately 12 feet long, I had more then enough to complete my installation. Be aware that the camera power cable must be connected to a power outlet in your car that is ON when the car is running and OFF when it is not. This allows the camera to be automatically ON and OFF at the same time your car is. When finished I was very satisfied not to see hanging wires from the camera dangling down from the windshield and draped across my dashboard (see pics). Believe me If I can do it at age 75 anyone can. YooHoo! ** Simple Controls - Easy learning curve to get familiar with all of the on-board buttons and features. After the first week of use I was thoroughly acquainted with all of the controls. Keep in mind after camera set-up and car installation everything is automatic from that point on. When I start my car the Rexing Dash Cam turns ON and automatically starts recording. Then shuts down when I turn my ignition OFF. How cool is that? The most important button control for me is the OK button, located on the front and center of the Dash Cam just below the LCD display screen. Depressing the OK button while the camera is recording will manually 'lock' the current video clip. This allows me to save a video clip I think is important, especially if there is a traffic event. Saving the video clip keeps it from being overwritten during the routine Loop Recording. The other buttons and controls are on the Drivers' side of the Dash Cam, Passenger side, and just below the LCD display screen. On the Drivers' side of the Rexing Dash Cam is the Power Button, Menu Button, Reset Button, and a Micro SD Card slot. On the Passenger side is the Mini USB port for power connection, a GPS Logger connection, and a Rear Camera port. Below the LCD screen is the OK button at center. To the far left of the OK button is the combination mode and still camera button, and, adjacent to that is the Record button. On the far right side of the OK button is the screen button to toggle the display ON or OFF to save power, and, adjacent to that is the MIC button to record audio or turn audio OFF. These controls are simple to learn, and, after four weeks of use the only button I use is the OK button to save some of my video clips. ** Video Setting Options – You can select from 1080p, 720p, and 480p resolutions. This Rexing Dash Cam allows me to use up to a 128GB Micro SD Card. It comes with a 32GB High Endurance Micro SD, Class 10 Card, which gives me up to 10 hours of recording time at 720p resolution. Nice! Micro SD, High Endurance, Class 10 cards will provide several years of constant, reliable use of recording and overwriting. After a month of constant use I am going to purchase a 128 GB, High Endurance Micro SD, Class 10 card from Best Buy because I am now convinced that this Dash Cam is my Video Insurance. It will give me approximately 39 hours of 720p (a months' worth of my driving), or 21 hours of recording at 1080p resolution for several weeks of my driving. Another important setting in video set-up is the Gravity Sensing G-Sensor (Default Low). When activated during a traffic accident the sensor will automatically lock the video, thereby saving the video clip when you need it the most. Wow! ** Video Playback – I use the included USB, 2.0 cable to connect to my computer. The Micro SD card can also be slotted into my computer, but the USB connection is clean and quicker. I playback my videos in Windows Media Player. The videos are crisp, clear, and colorful. The 170 Degree Wide Angle Lens captures all the road and highway details. I can control the size of the video I am playing from normal to full screen. I also have a sound control slider to increase or decrease the audio. What really impressed me is the quality and clarity of the night time video on playback. This Dash Cam is a gem. ** Operating & Storage Temperature – Since I live in Florida this is very important to me. It gets extremely hot in the Summer. The Rexing Dash Cam will operate at a temperature of 140 F and can be safely stored in my car as long as the temp does not exceed 160 F. Ideal conditions for me. I highly recommend this Rexing V1 Plus Dash Cam for your own peace of mind as video insurance in case of any traffic accident scenarios. I love it and will not drive without it. If an accident scenario happens this Rexing Dash Cam becomes invaluable by providing video proof. It is feature packed and inexpensive. It makes a great gift for any family member or special friend. I am giving this Rexing V1 Dash Cam five stars for its influence on me to be a better, more cautious driver. Buy one, you won't be disappointed.

Peace of mind is priceless.
Posted .I’ve been using the V1 Dashcam for about a week now and I can, without any hesitation, say I’ve been very happy with it so far. I found it easy to install and use and the peace of mind it affords is literally invaluable. Without boring you to death, I was recently behind someone who tried to back up and then drive around a mail truck on a busy road. Unfortunately, this person did not see me behind her and backed her truck into the front of my car. THANKFULLY, she was honest and admitted that it was her fault. However, I know that it would have put me in a VERY tough spot if she hadn’t been honest about it. I decided that it was time then to start looking for a dashcam. Pleasantly, I’ve found the V1 to fit the bill perfectly. Installation (I went with a hard wired install; allowing for 24/7 operation, if desired) was a breeze. I used an empty fuse socket and grounded the ground wire and was up and running in around 15 minutes total including running/hiding wires. Using the controls on the dash cam does take some getting used to; however, I’ve already found myself really comfortable with them in less than a week. I really like having the ability to be able to view a video straight from the dash cam rather than having to wait until you can get to a computer. It would prove invaluable in a scenario in which you need to be able to show someone what happened immediately. I was impressed that Rexing chose to include everything you’d need to get up and running with the product (memory card, wires, mounting hardware, etc.). I don’t have the most experience in the world with dashcams but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that many companies choose not to include many of those things with their products. Video quality is quite good (see picture). I chose not to post a picture with a visible license plate for privacy but it’s as clear as day if you’re behind someone at a red light or parking lot. I’ve chosen to set it to capture 1080p/30fps. The image does have artifacts when driving or in motion but certainly not to the extent that you won’t know what happened should you need to view video. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the V1 Dashcam. I would absolutely recommend it to friends and family.

Nice quality view/kit for the $
Posted .The actual dash cam is pretty small compared to pictures I'd seen online before I received it. The comes in a small box and is complete with options to power from either the assessor outlet or hardwire; 2 mounting stickers and receiver clips, a plastic tool used to lift moldings in the car to tuck the wire in and a 32GB card to make it a complete package. There is something to be said about market price and audience. For me, this fits the bill both cost and function. The sole purpose I have for a dash cam is to protect myself in case of a contested accident or maybe catch something out of the ordinary on camera. The quality and use of a Sony video sensor along with the 1080P wide angle lens is worthy of the fit. What I did not want is something with multiple camera inputs, front and rear or cabin views, etc. I like the fact that you can hardwire this in, (Or have Geek Squad do it,) set it and forget it and it’s tucked out of the way. Setup is a snap and you don’t have to delve to far into the instructions. It starts recording immediately when the car is on and keeps recording on a loop. The settings are minimal and straight forward. Videos are recorded in chunks and are easily read by any of today’s PC’s or phones. The unit records good quality video along with cabin audio and works repetitively. I expect this to keep working and have the video if and when I need it…. What I did not like about it at first was the viewing angles of the LCD screen. It is not pleasant to view live video with unless you are at the exact viewing angle. That being said, you really don’t look at the video on the screen unless you unmount it from the clip or during setup. When I’m drying or now that it is installed, it is invisible to me and I just keep the screen off, anyhow. I noticed when I went to install it on the right side of the mirror, I had my car’s cluster of auto wipers, and electronics blocking partial view of the video sensor. I believe there is a bias in the camera’s viewing angle to be mounted on the left due to a cars inherent average of curvature and recommended mounting away from driver. I did mount it on the driver’s side of the mirror on top, with no obstructions in view, and feel it does not deter from any driving view. Also, I do not notice any real bias in the left side versus the right due to the wide-angle lens. All said, I would recommend this if your looking for a simple and relatively cost-effective solution with regards to the quality.

Highly recommend!
Posted .Rexing isn’t a name most people know of including me. But, I’m sure glad I do now. The camera and video recording are top notch for the price. Once you familiarize yourself with the controls it’s very simple to operate. It comes with a 32gb card which is plenty of storage, I decided to purchase a 128gb card since prices are so cheap now. The device will automaticity delete old content if your memory card fills up, so if you use the 32gb card you don’t have to worry about constantly clearing out old videos. 128gb is the highest capacity card you can use, which is more than plenty. It comes with a cigarette lighter adapter which is the way I hooked it up, and a permanent adapter that you hook up to the vehicles fuse box. Dash cams have become more and more popular because of YouTube and Russian dash cam videos. Stuff isn’t as crazy here as they are over there, but it still is nice having something recording if someone tries to make a false claim against you. The whole device itself is very inconspicuous and most people won’t even notice it. If you have a car like mine where the ports are still powered when the vehicle is off, it will continue recording when your car is parked. This is nice if something happens when your vehicle is parked. Don’t overlook this brand when shopping for a dash cam, it’s top notch.

Low-light / night quality challenges
Posted .The Cam is a decent size and does NOT come with a suction cup, which I find very nice. It uses 3M double-sided adhesive and a bracket to attach to the windshield. At first I was a bit shocked that there wasn’t a suction cup mount, but with New England’s hot & cold temps, I’m a bit relieved since I’ve had many things fall from my windshield. Setup is easy. Set your plate# (or disable the plate from being printed on the video, which I do), set the date/time/daylight savings, looping (3-5-10mins), quality (it defaults to 1080p) and a few other items. Installation was a snap with the aforementioned bracket and adhesive. I ran it for the better part of 3 weeks and I have to say … the quality is … mediocre. I say that because … for a one-dollar-under-$100 camera, I’ve personally seen a $65 1080p cam blow the quality of this camera out of the water. Low-light is awful; it really isn’t good. I mean dusk, sunset time. Just not good. You can't make out shopping plaza signs going 30mph (see attached image). I have even tried increasing the exposure, but to no avail. There’s about a 10-foot distance where you can see license plates if you’re completely stopped and if you try to grab a still from a video, you’re out of luck (see my attached images). Also, there is some serious pixelation at dusk (see attached images again). I’m using the supplied microSD card, so it’s not likely related to that. The quality was so bad, that I reached out to support. After some impersonal messages and sending them images and a video, they said that the quality is non-standard and I got an RMA for a replacement camera. The process was quick, they held some money (to be refunded upon return of the original camera) and it was here in no-time flat. Unfortunately, the quality of the videos on the new camera were just as poor. I’m thinking that this is just a lower-end camera where image quality isn’t a focus -- it’s just to have ‘proof’ during an incident. Sound: Fine. It gets the radio and my awful singing; it also gets kids talking in the back seat, albeit on a much lower level. No GPS without external transmitter (an extra cost ~ $35). Though, for a $99 cam, that’s to be expected though. I can’t speak to the accuracy or use, as I didn’t purchase it. Overall, a ‘pro’ is the price. Under $100 isn’t bad for some security while driving in this crazy world - but only to prove/disprove fault, you’ll never be able to prove details with this camera. So, if you’re looking for some insurance “insurance” - pick it up. If you’re looking to have really nice video to go back and review, skip it and find one with better quality.

Solid Video Quality and Plenty of Extras
Posted .I have been testing this camera out for the last week and, overall, I like it. It's taken me a bit to figure everything out, though. First, the good: this camera comes with nearly everything you could want to hook the camera up to the car. It comes with a USB cable, a DC car cable, and an adapter you could plug in to your car's fuse box. Of the two cables, only the latter two are really viable for the car as the mini-usb cable is really too short. That could be a problem if, like me, you use your primary DC outlet to charge your smartphone. In my case, I had an extra mini-usb cable and used that cable instead. But, the existing cables are good enough if you have an extra dc port or want to wire the camera into the fuse box. There are two window adapters and they came with included tape. However, this is my first (and so far only) dash cam. I didn't like the idea of fixing the mount to the windshield and, instead, ordered a suction cup mount. It works perfectly fine, but will set you back another $10. But the kit comes with a 32gb micro-sd card. And, really, I don't know why you would need anything more. It will record for nearly 6 hours at 1080p before it begins to re-write data. That seems like plenty of time if you are wanting to go back to old footage. You can also lock footage so that it doesn't get overwritten by the camera later. I struggled with the interface for this camera as it can be a bit difficult to see the screen if the camera is picking up too much light. That made it a bit difficult to set the camera up properly and get the best angle. The camera starts recording upon receiving power. But, if you want to set the date / time and license plate or change any other settings, you will need to stop the camera from recording to be able to access the menu from the button on the side of the camera. I like the camera. I like all the accessories. Most importantly, I like the quality of the shots during the day and at night. The camera comes with a lot of cables and clips, but at the same time, it didn't come with the cable or the mount I needed. I guess I would keep that in mind if you find yourself with a set up like I have.

Excellent video quality, easy install
Posted .This is our first experience with a dash cam. Rexing has provided all the necessary items in the box to make this an easy experience for the user. The box includes the Rexing V1 dashboard camera, 12' car charger, two of the 3M adhesive mounts, USB cable, and user manual. We found the instructions in the user manual to be easy to understand and useful. Essentially, one mounts the camera via the 3M adhesive mount in an unobstructed, safe location near the rear view mirror, inserts the SD memory card into camera, mounts camera, and then connects the 12V dc outlet to cigarette lighter port. The manual also suggests formatting the memory card within the camera to ensure that it records correctly. Our vehicle only supplies power to the cigarette lighter port when it is turned on, thus once the vehicle was in use the camera battery began to charge fully. The V1 automatically powered on and started recording once we started the car. It seems like a better option that our car does power off the cigarette lighter when the vehicle is turned off since this will also power off the camera after 10 seconds. Otherwise, the camera would not turn on and off with the vehicle. The V1 Dash Cam comes with a 32gb memory card, but can use one up to 128gb. A user can change the default setting of 3 minute recording segments to select 5 or 10 minute segments. With the loop recording, when the SD storage limit is reached any new recordings will automatically overwrite the oldest recordings. Note that one can lock videos by pressing the OK button while in recording mode. This will lock the video to prevent it from being overwritten. Videos, by default, will be date stamped, but one needs to go into the default settings to update the plate number information for your car to get rid of the default plate "AAAAAAAAA". Another default setting that can be modified is the setting for Gravity Sensing. Essentially, this is the sensing that signals that the vehicle has been involved in an accident and thus an automatic file lock will be placed on the current video. The default setting is Low. One can playback recordings on the dash cam itself, but if possible it is more efficient to remove the SD card and view the recordings on one's computer. One will see the video segments in order by date and can then play or delete them. Locked videos are kept in a separate directory \CARDV\MOVIE\RO. We were very impressed with the quality of the video recordings. The range and angles of the dash cam are very good and capture very clear views in multiple lighting situations. In summary, we would strongly recommend the Rexing V1 Plus Dash Cam. It features 1080P full HD recording, 170 degree viewing angles, integrated display and a built in G-sensor for emergency video. We found the install to be user friendly, but it is nice to know that Best Buy provides professional installation by the Geek Squad should one require it.

Not for a Ram 1500
Posted .I have no issues with this dash cam, I liked the features and the ease of installing it. However, I will be returning it because I cannot see anything on the screen. To make any changes or to navigate through the menu I have to remove the device from the windshield. If I don't then all I see is glare. I've attached a photo from this morning, I figured that it would be easier to see while it's dark but it wasn't, oh and it's worse during the day.

Q: QuestionI have a Rexing camera that connects to the cigarette lighter on my car. It has less than a year since acquire the camera so it stops recording & turns off itself. Does the product's battery has any warranty or the camera can be returned or repaired?
Asked by Jesus.
- A:Answer This camera is strictly run via power from the car, there is no internal battery in the camera to replace The cigarette lighter loses power by design when you turn the ignition off, so the camera will also lose power, that's not a fault with the camera. Anything plugged into the cigarette lighter works like that. If you want continuous power you'll need to use something other than the cigarette lighter.as a source. You'll need to connect the camera power cord to either an "always powered" fuse in the car's inside fuse box, or splice the power cable into another car cable that is also always powered. That one is not advisable unless you are certain what you are doing. There's a video on the Best Buy product page that shows the fuse connection method.
