Great product ! I bought it to boost the sound of my Beyerdynamic 990 32 ohm phones. I use my phones mostly with an iPod and sometimes my lab top. To get the sound I want, I turn my iPod up to the maximum volume and then adjust the volume on the Samson amp. I only have to turn the volume about half way and that is more than enough. After a while I need to give my ears a break. The amp does not boost the bass or treble of the phones. You need to adjust the EQ setting on your iPod or computer or other source. Once u get it where u like it, then crank that baby up and u will not be disappointed. I wasn't anyway. I read reviews of this product where people complained about a hum or hiss distorting their music. The only way I have noticed it is if the cables are not firmly connected. Make sure they are firmly connected and problem solved. Don't pull or yank your cables either. Be gentle. It's that simple. Also, you don't need to get expensive cables either. I bought a $6 audio cable and a $2 adapter . They both work great, no problems. And yes you need to buy both because the amp only comes with an ac adapter. You need the I/8 to 1/4 inch adapter to use the amp, or you can buy the cable that has both on it. Some headphones come with them but if not, you need it. One final thing, the amp does not charge and has no on/off switch. Just plug it in to use or unplug it when not using it. I haven't used the other headphone connectors yet, there are 4 as you see in the stock photo. I'm sure they work just as good as port 1. Hope this helps. Definitely recommend if you want a little boost.
