      As flat screen TVs are continuing to trend larger and larger, it has interestingly made finding a 40" TV of any level of quality harder to find. In my search I really only came across about 3 or 4 to compare, but I am happy to say Samsung has kept the 40" version as one of the smaller, if not smallest entry in one of its nicer series. While I am not a novice when it comes to electronics, I not a technophile either, so I won't pretend to gush about lag rates and such, but I love the way the picture looks regardless of what I am watching - from Netflix to Blu-Ray to XBOX to yes, I still have it, cable TV, it all looks great. This TV is also really lightweight and easy to set up. It has 3 HDMI ports, and well as adapters for older connection types such as RCA/video cables and the like. While I can't guarantee it, if you are replacing an older flat screen TV with this one, you will more than likely have everything to set this one up either already in place or in the box.

      Great Picture-limited I/O connections

      I purchased this 40" TV to replace a 2 yr. old 40 Samsung TV. PROS: * The picture is excellent compared to the older TV. It is brighter, has better contrast, and the HDR is great! CONS: The connections available is limited. The following capabilities that were on the 2yr. old unit are missing on this newer Series 7 TV: * No external infrared transmitter jack for IR cable box control * No Bluetooth (really?) * No 3.5mm analog audio output jack for headphone, hearing aid transmitter (which I need), etc. * Not compatible with older Samsung remote RMCTPHA1P1 BN59-01185F which has cursor dot onscreen for point & click. Using the arrow keys on the included remote for text entry is cumbersome. Also, the stand is configured as 2 side legs now instead of a center stand. This made it difficult to fit on my 31" wide wooden TV stand. The legs are right at the edge and could slide off if the TV is bumped. I will need to make something wider for it to sit on so it can't fall. The manual that came with it is almost useless. I would recommend this TV but under advisement to check all the I/O connections to see if it has what you need.

      This Samsung smart television is perfectly amazing as a replacement for my slightly smaller 32" TV; The bigger screen (a major factor in my purchasing decision) makes it easier to see what I'm watching more clearly- and speaking of, the picture is significantly more sharp and crisp and clear than what I had before [within reason for applicable content]. I love the style of it and the Samsung UI is fairly intuitive once you become adjusted to it. This works great for a bigger personal television to play high-quality games on or also to watch HDTV programs on, and could be a good fit for a moderate living room entertainment center. [forewarning: if you wish to wall-mount this item, you will need four M8 x 45" VESA screws.]

      Disappointed and Frustrated!

      My Samsung TV was delivered and installed by The Geek Squad on Wed, June 6th. I have spent hours on the phone with Spectrum and Samsung Technicians and had a Spectrum Technician at my home on June 9th. When using the Spectrum App, the TV will not hold the internet connection and the sound and picture continuously freezes. Needless to say, I can not watch any program via this App. All other devices are working with strong signals; this TV does not connect to 5G and it is only picking up 2G. Is this a Software issue? Is this a defective TV? As a 2018 model, why doesn't the it pick up 5G? I am now waiting for Samsung to get back to me by June 11th or 12th to see what can be done. Otherwise, I will have to return the TV?! I have a brand new TV, mounted on a wall and it can not be watched!

      I bought this TV when my cable provider decided to go 100% digital, forcing me to either pay them an extra monthly fee to rent a digital receiver or upgrade to a Smart TV--- And I chose the later. I now watch TV via the free Spectrum app, and access other movies and shows via the Prime Video and Hulu apps (using my exiting accounts). And I have no complaints; I'm very happy with my new Smart TV. NOTE: My cable provider later mentioned that a Roku device would have also given me access to the digital network via the Spectrum App, but I'm still happy to have upgraded from a 21" to a 40" TV.

      I love everything Samsung but I'm really disappointed in this TV. I had a 40 inch MU 7000 (A 2017 model) in which the screen cracked so I bought this TV to replace it. This is a 2018 model and the picture is far inferior to my old TV. In every aspect I don't understand why Samsung would market such a downgraded model a year later and add 1 next to it. Just doesn't make sense to me. I was hoping to get a better pic, seeing as if this is a newer model. But like I said in the title EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I'm on the verge on returning this n maybe go for a vizio or another brand (still haven't decided yet)

      This is a 7 series Samsung set. Setup is very easy and straightforward. Not super fancy but it is 4K and has HDR. Diagonal is barely under 40 inches. Brightness is still good at side angles you would not want to view from. Bottom depth is 2.5 inches and top is less than an inch. Very satisfactory for wall mount. Refresh is 120 so motion blur is not bad. Automatically IDs media server if you have one on your network. Also USB to view content from external devices. Audio is not great but after all it is a slender TV. If sound is important get some external speakers and connect to the SPD/F optical output.

      I was glad to find this product since it was the largest that would fit in our entertainment center. The product works great with a clear and well defined picture, fine sound and great features. As it is our first smart TV, we are very pleased to have internet program options now. The price was great. I found shopping on line to be straight forward and the staff was very helpful and efficient when I went into the store to pick it up. We couldn't be more pleased and hope this TV lasts as least as long a the 9-year old Samsung that it replaced.
