I have a small living room and recently remodeled using shiplap and wall mounted TV over the fireplace. It’s a perfect size for viewing and not overtaking the room. Very important that it’s a Smart TV as I refuse to pay for cable as internet and antenna serves my needs.

I needed a new tv, my old one was only 2 years old if that but running almost 22 hours a day. It had burn ins and you could start to see the LED lights coming through the frame. This is my second Samsung and the reason I bought another new one is because they are well made. Furthermore the picture is perfect and has 3 HDMI ports. The 4K is excellent and high dynamic range on all inputs. I use my tv for my laptop monitor, all my smart tv apps Netflix VUDU ext, cable and gaming. I added pictures using the tv’s app for YouTube. I find the smart tv part of this tv is excellent and easy to use. Picture quality is very nice.

I bought this UHD 4K tv for a computer monitor. I do a lot of Photoshop and Premiere photo and video editing. I display most of my work on 4k displays. Previously I had used twin 24" 1080P monitors to perform the edits. With this 40" Samsung, I am able to zoom in to perform detailed edits and still have excellent resolution. The colors are true and the work space of the 40" single monitor is much more convenient than the twin 24" displays I had previously. It also provides excellent viewing distance on a reasonable sized desktop.

I bought this to use as a PC Computer Monitor and I love it. I run it at 1680 x 1050 and set Windows at 125% viewing. Perfect edge to edge display. I do NOT game on it, just Word, Excel, Photoshop, Internet. I have no clue how it would perform as a Gaming Monitor, but for what I use it for, it is GREAT. It sits on my desk, about 30 inches from my eyes. I took a quick snapshot of the TV (monitor) but it is JUST a quick snapshot - not intended to be anything but an example. The screen quality is MUCH better than it appears in the snapshot.

I'd really like to give it 3 1/2 Stars. The picture is fantastic, but it loses points because there is no outlet for me to plug the sound from the TV into my Surroundsound. I also don't like the fact there is no on/off button on the TV itself. The price was right though, so...

I got this Tv as a Christmas present. I like it and it works well, but the only thing is that the bottom piece that changes the input etc broke off so now we can’t lose the remote. If I was searching for a tv I would make sure the controls to the tv (without the remote) are easy and visible to use. I probably would go with a different version because of the issue I’ve had. I may see if it’s covered under warranty but what a pain!

Really Disappointing product. After using the product for 1.6 year it became defective. Black vertical lines are coming. We buy a company product so that we will get good quality. I believe it's a manufacturing defect with the whole lot and many other people have same issue.

As flat screen TVs are continuing to trend larger and larger, it has interestingly made finding a 40" TV of any level of quality harder to find. In my search I really only came across about 3 or 4 to compare, but I am happy to say Samsung has kept the 40" version as one of the smaller, if not smallest entry in one of its nicer series. While I am not a novice when it comes to electronics, I not a technophile either, so I won't pretend to gush about lag rates and such, but I love the way the picture looks regardless of what I am watching - from Netflix to Blu-Ray to XBOX to yes, I still have it, cable TV, it all looks great. This TV is also really lightweight and easy to set up. It has 3 HDMI ports, and well as adapters for older connection types such as RCA/video cables and the like. While I can't guarantee it, if you are replacing an older flat screen TV with this one, you will more than likely have everything to set this one up either already in place or in the box.

    First Rate TV

I bought this television to replace an older one in our RV. We use the RV extensively so this television gets used regularly and continually. Its really is impossible to give a full review in such a short length of time. We've only had this TV for about a month and so longevity is something on which I cannot comment. Picture quality, sound quality, ease of use, built in functions etc. are the things that we have a few weeks of experience with. We picked a 40 inch TV because it is the smallest size that also comes as a 4K UHD model. I was concerned about it fitting but it eneded up fitting the space for it just fine. The picture, as set up with the default setup I found to be over bright and over contrast with skin tones and overall color that was way to cool (blue). I adjusted the color so that skin tones are more normal and overall color balance is more neutral rather than either too warm or too cool (this takes time to get right and obviously will depend on your preferences and color preception). Once that was done I've found the picture to be vivid without extremes, natural in tone and very pleasing to the eye in almost all situations, movies, TV series, older movies and even black and white shows. I am very happy with the picture. In the past, as the size of televisions has become smaller and thinner, so has the sound reproduction coming out of them. The increasingly smaller dimensions has left manufacturers with little to almost no room for speakers that put out any quality or volume and I expected the same of this one. It was no surprise that after the tv was put in place and turned on for the first time and the sound output was low and unsatisfactory. So, I went back in to the various setting for the TV and found that there are three different possible setting for the sound. One was the default which I found much too low, the second option (don't remember what they called it offhand) and a third option they called "Amplify" which added lots of volume and lots of sound artifacts that were unnatural. The second option gives up ample volume. Also to be noted is that we already had a soundbar with a subwoofer which we hooked up and use with the television so that the sound is not a huge concern to use but will be to any one that doesn't use an additional soundbar. Overall, we are very pleased with this television and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this to a friend (as long as you take the time to make adjustments).

I purchased this 40" TV to replace a 2 yr. old 40 Samsung TV. PROS: * The picture is excellent compared to the older TV. It is brighter, has better contrast, and the HDR is great! CONS: The connections available is limited. The following capabilities that were on the 2yr. old unit are missing on this newer Series 7 TV: * No external infrared transmitter jack for IR cable box control * No Bluetooth (really?) * No 3.5mm analog audio output jack for headphone, hearing aid transmitter (which I need), etc. * Not compatible with older Samsung remote RMCTPHA1P1 BN59-01185F which has cursor dot onscreen for point & click. Using the arrow keys on the included remote for text entry is cumbersome. Also, the stand is configured as 2 side legs now instead of a center stand. This made it difficult to fit on my 31" wide wooden TV stand. The legs are right at the edge and could slide off if the TV is bumped. I will need to make something wider for it to sit on so it can't fall. The manual that came with it is almost useless. I would recommend this TV but under advisement to check all the I/O connections to see if it has what you need.

The first tv I purchased didn't work. It wouldn't connect to the internet, the "APPS" interface didn't show up at all, amongst many other problems. I went through all the necessary steps for correction, but nothing worked. After researching online there are a vast number of complaints abut Samsung's internet connections and Samsung hub problems. I tried Samsung's online support a few times while dealing with this, and each time the Samsung technicians just stopped responding mid-conversation. A waste of many hours of my time made me angry. After all this, I don't have a good opinion of Samsung's online support, or the "smart" parts of the television. There is a lot of improvements needed. Once I purchased a new tv of the same type, I again had some trouble connecting to the internet and with the Smart Hub. This time I called the phone service line (where you actually speak with a human lol), and my issue was corrected within a reasonable 20-30 minutes. This was a huge relief after the endless hours I spent trying to fix the first tv. I have a positive opinion of the call-in phone support. The tv itself is very light considering the size. I can carry it myself in the box, which makes it easily portable. Having HDR in a tv makes the greatest difference. Sadly, atmosphere/light affects this screen quite a bit. In sunlight, there is some wash out, and at night it's strangely bright. Yet when you change it to a dimmer setting you lose picture clarity and color (more than in older tv's). I'm also not a fan of how darks bleed together. The darks are beautifully black, but you lose detail and layering. It's actually difficult to see what's happening when playing a darkly colored picture. This seems to be a commonality of all the tv's I tried despite the brand. I think they just haven't perfected the color clarity with these screens yet. It is my biggest annoyance outside of the problems with getting the tv to actually work properly. All viewing angles are good which is as it should be. The picture quality is really good overall. With antenna/air channels it's a good picture, but there is quite a bit of cut-out, which is kind of expected. When hooked up to a gaming station the picture is excellent and I haven't experienced any lag. The same is to be said when you are using a DVD/Blu-Ray players. Pictures with streaming services is also very nice. If it weren't or the darks being shoddy, it would be awesome. But I still miss the days of the Sony Bravo XBR's circa 2010....those very amazing pictures! The ports worked normally and are plenty enough for my usage thus far. I have my speaker connected via optical cable and it works fine. That being said, the tv's speakers are much better in tone and volume than most other tv's I tried, which is great, especially if you don't want to have additional "thing" to carry around or purchase. I personally play both the tv speakers and my additional speaker at the same time, so I'm happy with that. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. I've had this tv for approximately two months. We'll have to see how it does long-term. I hope they simplify the Smart hub, so it's easier to navigate. I also hope they improve the functionality of the overall smart connections, etc. But realistically, these are computers now, so I expect more problems. I personally like to keep my electronics a long time, so I hope they don't go the route of "disposables' that are meant to die out and throw away every few years. I prefer quality and precision over gimmicks and disposability.
