Q: can the operating system be upgraded to 6.x?
A: I don't think so. I did some research on it. If you root your phone (which should be easier now with One Click Root sfwe for the PC) There is a custom ROM you can download which IS based on Android v6. Hope this helps...that's my plan anyway.
