Great computer for a college student
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this computer because I am going to college for engineering. I had to download SolidWorks (CAD Software) and I wasn’t able to on my old laptop. To run this software I needed at least 8 GB of ram and about 15 GB or space. Which, I didn’t have on my old computer. I like that the Samsung has an actual physical graphics card, because I am able to run my CAD software on that and keep the ram for what ever else I’m doing at the time. So technically, it doesn’t bog down my computer like it would if I only had the Ram to work from. It’s been a solid computer and I’ve enjoyed using it. Also, it has made getting my school work completed a little easier. The only downfall I have found with the computer is my old computer had a solid state drive and I miss the speed of the SSD. But, in order to get a computer with a large SSD you n Ed a good amount of money, which I did not have. So overall it’s a great computer for the price.

Durable Samsung Notebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have quite a few Samsung products in my home - from an entire highline kitchen appliance set; three large ultrathin big screen television sets, 3 Blu-ray players, a combo S/S dvr recorder/player w/VHS, and 2 Samsung Galaxy S smart phones, So you can tell I have a prejudice with Samsung high quality products. This notebook/laptop is absolutely fantastic - large storage, fast speed, a tremendous fast operating system and its sturdy! I've owned ultralight laptops in the past but selected this model because of Samsung reputation & its weight. Its actually a little too heave but gonna take a pretty large accident to cause any damage. Boots fast & has plenty of power for multi-tasking. Only negative is it doesn't come with an internal DVD recorder/player. However there are plenty of portable reader/writers that can be connected thru the USB plug. I expect this will last a very long time. There are cheaper notebook/laptops out there, but this one is worth a few dollars more. Love it.

Gamer on a budget? Buy this!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is perfect for someone who likes gaming on the road, but doesn't have the $2,000 budget for an true gaming laptop. the 7th gen i5 paired with the NVIDIA graphics card can run most games rather well. While it doesn't have a solid state drive, everything else holds up extremely well. I'd pay $900 for this laptop, but you can get it for $600. Would definitely recommend to anyone! 5/5

Spartan workhorse
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my previous laptop, an Asus N550JV, kicked the bucket, I needed something cheap but powerful to replace it. This Samsung laptop fit the bill perfectly. The discrete GPU, plenty of storage and memory, and a 7th gen i5 make for a complete package that fulfills all the needs I have as a college student. My only complaints: I would have preferred an i7 processor, but the great battery life would likely have taken a hit. The screen leaves a lot to be desired, both in resolution and viewing angles. I haven't tried using it outdoors, but I imagine it wouldn't be a great experience. I understand that a lower resolution screen means better battery life, but after becoming accustomed to 1080p screen, I can't help but to feel I've taken a step back to 2005. Pixels and jagged edges everywhere! All the ports are on the left side of the laptop. I can't help but to feel like they could have included another USB port or -something- on the right hand side. A backlit keyboard would have been nice. There are no indicator lights other than a blue LED indicating that the laptop is on. No charging, num lock, caps lock, or CPU indicator lights. You don't realize how useful those are til they're gone. The webcam is extremely low resolution. So beside those few, mostly cosmetic, copmlaints I'm completely satisfied with this laptop. I would have rated it 4.5 stars if Best Buy's rating system would allow it, so I'll round it up to 5.

Ok Computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is OK in my opinion. There are some good things about it and somethings that rive me crazy. I like that it is fairly light weight, has a nice screen size and 7th gen Intel and it is a touch screen. It has a good amount of speed and memory. However, there is no Caps light so the only way to tell if the caps are on is to start typing, also the track pad gets stuck when over the side bar up & down arrows so it will just keep scrolling and you have to use the touch screen to tap someplace on the page to get it to stop scrolling. Also, when looking at my emails it can be difficult to check or uncheck an email for deleting or moving. Once again you have to use the touch screen to perform these tasks. So for me this computer is just ok and I would probably not buy it again. If you don't use the computer a lot it would probably work good for you but I work online so it can be a pain sometimes.

Happy with Samsung
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't read any reviews on the Samsung before going to Best Buy to get a new computer - was originally looking at the Toshiba but the salesperson showed me this one and I bought on his recommendation. I am really happy with this machine. It's fast and runs multiple programs at once with no problem. I sometimes forget it has a touch screen (which is a plus when I remember to use it because it's very convenient). Overall I can recommend the Samsung. I am not a gamer so I don't know how it handles that task but for everything else it's a great computer.

Q: QuestionIs this laptop eligible for any student discounts?
Asked by collegestudent.
- A:Answer yes $125 off
Answered by savannah
Q: QuestionHow long is the battery life?
Asked by Ethan.
- A:Answer Im not 100% on that answer. From my use I usually always have it on the charger at work. It does have the power saving features you can enable. You should be able to get through a whole day of general use just fine. If you are using a more powerful program, photoshop etc, it wont last as long.

Q: QuestionIn the description it says this laptop can be used as a tablet but it doesn't appear as though the screen detaches from the keyboard. Can anybody help me with this?
Asked by Bldu.
- A:Answer It doesn't detach. The hinge allows the touchscreen to be opened all the way so it is flat and flush with the keyboard, but it doesn't detach.

Q: Questionthe specs show that this is a ssd (solid state) hard drive, but some of the questions make it look like it is not, anyone know for sure?
Asked by harddrive.
- A:Answer Samsung's website says further down the product description page that it can be upgraded to SSD and SSD is sold separately. The key specs on the Best Buy product description are incorrect as far as I can tell by doing some extra research this afternoon. Thanks for the question because it prompted me to call Best Buy and get a partial refund for the misleading information.

Q: QuestionDoes this have upgradable RAM? If so how much?
Asked by Kmack.
- A:Answer Samsung suggest that supported system ram is up to 16GB

Q: QuestionSpecs say it has a solid state hard drive, yet it also claims the storage is HDD. I am confused.
Asked by gerry.
- A:Answer It is a PCI-e M.2 SSD. One SSD for both the system and for Storage, which will be in the default folders, Documents, Pictures, Downloads, Music, Video. Just like any other Windows computer. An SSD is still considered to be a HDD.

Q: QuestionHow well does this run World of Warcraft - Legion? (And, if possible to answer: up to which settings configuration does it handle raiding at a minimum of 60 FPS, if at all?) What about Overwatch? Thanks in advance!
Asked by Eve.
- A:Answer Hey there Eve. The laptop has 8gb 2133mhz ddr4 ram and Intel HD Graphics 620 / Nvidia GeForce 920MX with 2GB of dedicated ram. You can compare these specs to the ones suggested on https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/76459 to see if WoW will run fine for you. You can also find the specs suggested for Overwatch here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/65159 I hope you are able to play the games without any problems!

Q: QuestionIs this good for light gaming?
Asked by Anon.
- A:Answer Absolutely. One of the main reasons we bought this laptop was so my son could play a couple of games that he was not able to play on our mac. Right now he's playing Hello Neighbor, Keep talking and Nobody explodes, and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
