Excellent Laptop!
||Posted .I was in a market for a new 2 in 1 for some time. This is a beautiful laptop which is small and very light weight. Has a fast CPU, fast SSD, and great build quality. The laptop has a touchscreen with an integrated pen. This is a refreshed model of the 2017 Samsung Notebook 9 Pro. It includes the 8th Generation processor. It has plenty of ports: 1 USB C port, 2 USB 3 ports, a full-sized HDMI port, a headphone jack and a micro SD card slot. I don't have to carry around a lot of dongles to hook up any extra devices. The screen is outstanding, it's bright, colorful, and the touch works great. The laptop startup time is fast due to the SSD and the MS Hello camera login, which works great. I like the feel of the keyboard and having back-lit keys is great. Battery life has been outstanding. Has lasted over 8 hours for me, but of course will vary depending on what you are doing. I also have a myCharge - RazorMax Portable Charger with USB C that I also purchased from Best Buy that charges the laptop, without the laptop being plugged into a wall outlet. The included pen works fine, and I like that it is hidden within a storage space in the front of the laptop which means it is always easy to find and hard to lose. Tablet mode is great for watching movies and web browsing when on the couch. Hinges are perfect, not too loose like the last laptop I had. I have even done some light gaming on it while traveling, played some WOW and it was ok. I have had no overheating issues and no loud fan noises. After having the laptop for a while, I upgraded the SSD drive to this: Samsung - 970 EVO 500GB Internal PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) that I also purchased from Best Buy. Installing it was easy, migrating the OS was a bit tricky. I found a video online that showed upgrading the SSD in the Samsung laptop that was helpful. The new SSD is blazing fast with no issues. See attached screenshot for speed comparison between the stock drive and the upgraded one. Note: the stock SSD will be fine for most people. I need a bigger/faster drive for work that I do. Two slight negatives: 1. I wish the speakers were better quality. The sound is a bit low. It hasn't really been a problem though, as I normally use a wireless Bluetooth headset or desk speakers anyways. 2. I wish the power button was on the top of the laptop instead of the side. A couple times I accidentally hit it while holding the laptop in tablet mode. I am used to it now, so not a problem any more. I would highly recommend the Samsung Notebook Pro 9 13.3 computer.

AWESOME Notebook for anyone
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This is a nifty notebook. I love all its features especially that it folds over and can be used as a stand. The screen is very clear and love the touch screen features. The last laptop I purchased was about 10 to 12 years ago so this is really an upgrade for me. Oh and the Open Box price was unbeatable, plus they gave me an extra $30 off so. Oh and I love the face recognition as extra security.

Tech reviews call this best 2n1 - have to agree
||Posted .Spent months researching and looking for a 2n1. I had originally decided on a Lenovo, when I read a review about this computer. After reading several more and looking at one in the store, I was sold. I am amazed by the battery life on this. I haven't actually "timed" it but I've been able to use it throughout the day, for a couple days, without a charge. My work laptop won't last more than an hour without being plugged in. And speaking of the work laptop, this Samsung is amazingly fast. I didn't really notice how much until I went back to the work laptop. No issues with hinges so far. Laptop stays in whatever position you put it in. Laptop is very lightweight. Size is great. I usually like larger (17") laptops but this is perfect for the 2n1. I was hesitant that I wouldn't use the features of a 2n1 worth the extra money but I use this more than I've ever used a regular laptop. The screen is a little small for working on some projects and I usually plug into an external monitor. I didn't realize when I ordered this that it was so thin that there is no connection for an external monitor. However, I quickly remedied that by ordering an adapter that connects thru the hdmi. I've had some issues with occasional freezing but I'm blaming that on software issues (Microsoft). Only thing so far I don't like is the screen brightness auto adapts to the ambient light, regardless of where you have the brightness set. I guess this is a Samsung thing. It is very annoying, as I have an issue with light sensitivity. Sometimes, suddenly the screen will get dramatically brighter, virtually blinding me, or it will get so dark, I have trouble seeing things on the screen. I have yet to figure out a solution for this.

Perfect for Samsung Note Users
||Posted .I have tried many different computers including the: Surface book Surface Pro Dell XPS Lenovo Yoga Samsung Tab Pro S All of the laptops/tablet that I have tried were fine to awesome, but here is are the reasons this has become my daily driver of a laptop. - I have realized that a tablet is nice sometimes but I really like having the hing and need it most of the time. - I can't stand a normal laptop (Dell XPS) anymore since I take hand notes quite frequently. - This one is thin enough that the keyboard on the back doesn't bother me too much when I am holding like a tablet. - It has USB C that I can use to charge which simplifies my life quite a bit ( why I didn't end up keeping the Surface Book) - Compared to the Surface Book 2 it is quite reasonably priced and has nice specs. -If you have a Note, you'll notice the add on pen features mimic that quite nicely. (I love the smart select and text extraction though it is missing the pin to screen that I find extremely helpful) - It is really nice to have a pen housed in the device (Though I also use the bamboo Ink when I am writing a lot) - It is powerful enough to run the programs I need to for engineering and even play a few games like league of legends - The autobooting is extremely quick and a nice Samsung add on. - Windows Hello face recognition on this is quite a bit faster than on other devices for some reason. Cons: - 1080 P screen (good enough for me but I do wish it was a little better) It gets the job done but isn't anything to write home about. - Battery life is nothing special, not the worst but certainly not the best. - Design is nothing special, it doesn't scream style like a Surface or MacBook but it doesn't look bad either. - Windows home (you can upgrade to Pro like I did for $99 but it is annoying if you want bitlocker) Overall I would recommend this computer all day long to Samsung Note users. I would recommend this to most everybody as well as a nice computer, but if you aren't tied to the Samsung eco system this computer isn't too special, it is still really nice but you might not enjoy the 'extra features' Samsung puts on here and might instead think of them as 'bloatware'. And while this "isn't anything special" it is what I wont be returning and will be my laptop for the next 3 to 5 years.

Excellent alternative to the Surface line
||Posted .After my trusty mac book pro keyboard decided to stop working I decided to purchase a new laptop. I checked out the new mac book and I was not too happy that apple decided to remove all the ports except for a USB C port. I really was not interested in carrying around dongles or hubs. I decided to make a return to a PC and I am very happy with my choice. Samsung has constructed and beautiful laptop which is very functional. The laptop has a full touchscreen with an integrated pen, full sized HDMI port, 2 USB ports, 1 USB C port, a headphone jack and a micro SD car slot. The laptop startup time is fast due to the ssd and latest Intel core i7 processor. I chose this over a comparable surface device because it is a much better value and not worth paying so much extra for a surface product

Very nice laptop, but...
||Posted .I like this laptop. It is solid, responsive, and has some nice features. I bought it because it looked like a less expensive, yet more powerful alternative to the Core i5 powered Surface Pro 6 I recently purchased and still have time to return. Having 2 USB type A ports, a full-size HDMI port, and a USB type C port that supports changing is much better than what the Surface offers. Although the S-Pen is smaller and lighter than the Surface Pen, it is pleasurable to write with on the Notebook's larger screen. It is also very nice to have a dedicated storage location for the pen. While Samsung is known for its excellent displays, this one is just OK. The Surface Pro's screen is much brighter and crisper, with an aspect ratio that is better suited for tablet and inking use. When at home, I usually use my laptop on my desk connected to a Dell D3100 docking station that drives 3 monitors, giving me a total of 4 screens including the laptop's. This computer handles this configuration just fine, and is nice and responsive when used this way. After getting all of my stuff copied onto the Samsung, and before factory resetting the Surface Pro to return it, I did some performance testing on both to see just how much faster the fan-cooled i7 would be compared to the Surface's passively-cooled i5. The first comparison I did was using the test software available at userbenchmark.com. The Surface Pro's results were Gaming: 16%, Desktop: 49%, and Workstation: 34%. The Samsung scored Gaming: 18%, Desktop: 66%, and Workstation 37%. Given that the amount of RAM and the video processor are the same on both machines, these numbers seem reasonable to me. However, the userbenchmark test is rather quick, and I wanted to see just how much the Surface Pro would throttle down its CPU due to heat under a longer-term continuous load such as when I do video conversions. This is where things got interesting. I began by installing Handbrake onto both machines, and then copying the same drone video from last summer onto both. After verifying that all relevant settings were the same between the 2 PCs, I rebooted them and waited about 10 minutes to ensure that all startup processes had been completed. I set Handbrake on both PCs to convert the 3.7 GB 4K video to 1080p, set the cursors over the "Start Encode" button, and tapped both track pads simultaneously. Almost immediately, the Samsung's fan turned on so I closely watched the Surface Pro's stats to see when the Frames Per Second indicator would start dropping off. It never did. In fact, after 16 minutes, the Pro's average FPS was 11.7, with 76% of the conversion complete, while the average FPS of the Samsung was 11.1, with only 72% completion! Ultimately, the Surface Pro finished the job in 21 minutes and 41 seconds with an average FPS of 11.6, while it took the Samsung 22:34 with an average 11.2 FPS. I later repeated this test while running another program called HWiNFO64 that monitors the CPU's performance, including each core's temperature. Quite surprisingly to me, the Samsung's CPU was being throttled due to high temperature most of the time, much more than the Surface Pro's was. Overall, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is a nice convertible laptop. Under moderate use, the Core i7 processor keeps relatively cool and is fast. Ask it to do some prolonged heavy lifting, however, and it just can't keep its cool. Looks like I'll be sticking with the Surface Pro.

Q: QuestionWhat form does this laptop accept for SSD's and What Connection Type SATA, NVMe?

- A:Answer I installed one of these: Samsung - 970 EVO 500GB Internal PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) Solid State Drive for Laptops with V-NAND Technology. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-970-evo-500gb-internal-pci-express-3-0-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-for-laptops-with-v-nand-technology/6252132.p?skuId=6252132&ref=212&loc=1&extStoreId=1481&ds_rl=1266837&ref=212&loc=1&ds_rl=1266837&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlMW6w9az3gIVgod-Ch2gEgJOEAQYASABEgIkYvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds. Blazing fast (3556.2 / 2501.8 - with stock drive it was 549.8 / 532.8. It installed easily. Was a bit tricky to migrate my OS and files over. Found a video on Youtube about upgrading the drive on the Samsung Laptop. Helped.

Q: QuestionWhat's the official battery life on this model? And what do people report it is, with normal useage? How many hrs. can it go before needing a recharge? And is the battery replaceable when it dies or malfunctions, or is it not replaceable?
Asked by Drew.
- A:Answer The official battery life is listed as 11.5 hrs. People here report 8-10 hrs, before needing to recharge, with 'normal' use. Another option is buy a recharge pack, to extend the battery life while using the laptop. When I bought this model last week, the Geek Squad opened up the interior, & showed me how the battery is removable & replacable, as is the hard drive, which I upgraded to 550gb ssd, instead of the stock 225gb's ssd. All these upgradable features led me to buy this model, instead of the unexpandable Notebook 7 Spin. The only concern is the 8 gb of RAM, which is soldered in & not expandable. I figure that the state of the art i7 processor, & 550 gb ssd hard drive, will make the 8 gb's work just fine. First time answering my own questions, kinda fun!
