4k Private Ryan is grain free
|Posted .Private Ryan on bluray was unwatchable. Terrible. Spielberg's fault. The 4k is clear and naturally bright. Color pops off the screen. The Atmos soundtrack is outstanding. Spielberg filmed this movie grainey on purpose. He probably will hate the 4k edition. I love it!

Not much different from the blu-ray
Posted .First off, this is a fantastic movie. Hands down. I own the original DVD, blu-ray and now the 4k version. Unfortunately the 4k version is not much different from the blu-ray. Yes, it's definitely more crisp. And the sound is phenomenal. But they're still many scenes where there is a white glow and firery glow trail from fire's. The original DVD did not have this issue. Only the blu-ray and 4k disc have this problem. Also, there's a lot of grain in the 4k transfer. I understand it's an older movie and it was shot on film. But if you watch Leon (The professional) in 4k version. Which is a few year's older than Saving Private Ryan. You'll notice it's a lot cleaner with almost no grain. Personally I wouldn't buy the 4k version if you already have the blu-ray version. On the other hand, if you have a killer sound system like I do. I would definitely buy the 4k version. I give this 3 star's only because of the sound quality. The Dolby Atoms will blow you away.

Cmmon Bestbuy! why you do this huh? Future buyers beware on getting the steelbook just get the regular 4k Disc!

Awesome 4K transfer!
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendCan't go wrong with Saving Private Ryan in glorious 4K and Dolby Atmos sound. The movie itself is one of the best war movies of all time, especially the first 25 minutes of intense graphic war violence on the D-Day invasion which is an incredible standout of excellent film making. The 4K transfer looks pretty good, even though the gritty appearance of the picture that the filmmakers intended is still there. The Dolby Atmos sound is one of the best presentations of all time, really drawing the viewer in. The D-Day invasion in the beginning of the film is spectacular in every way imaginable. The steel book version does not contain the regular blu ray which will be disappointing for some. I do recommend the 4K version, as the picture and especially the sound is as good as it gets for this classic film.

Uncompromising, powerful war movie that does not p
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIf there is one specific genre I don't watch that much, it's the war genre. Normally, it's not my type of movie, but when it comes to one of the best, if not the best war film, it has to be Saving Private Ryan. This is my first viewing of the film and I am very impressed. It's not just your typical war film, it has a personal story that will keep you hooked from start to finish and it's one of Spielberg's best films. Saving Private Ryan is told through flashbacks during World War II and starts with the devastating D-Day invasion in 1944. The film follows a group of soldiers who are assigned to a mission to locate a missing soldier whose brothers were killed in action. Within the first 30 minutes of the film, Steven Spielberg rewrote everything about warfare movies and perfectly captures the horrors of war on screen. There are stunning yet brutal action scenes, but it doesn't detract the whole film's focus. The cinematography is dazzling and the set design truly grips you into its World War II setting. When it comes to characterization and emotional scenes, this film succeds in delivering them. It may be a war film, but it will leave affected by the end. The movie has a great cast, such as Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and even Vin Diesel, and they all give great performances. There isn't much flaws in the film, aside from the pacing in some scenes. Saving Private Ryan revolutionized how war movies are done and it pays tribute to the fallen warriors of World War II. Highly recommended.

The sound.
|Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Out of the remastered 4k films I’ve picked up recently this is absolutely the best transfer. The audio in its original format is amazing and the attention to the remaster makes it one of the best I’ve heard. The picture is nice it’s still shot on original 35 millimeter from 1940s so grainy as it should be. But that sound takes this movie to the next level easily.
