Q: Can this lock communicate with a nest?
A: What do you want it to do with your Nest system and which device do you mean (camera, thermostat, etc)? I don't think Nest has any direct compatibility with this at all. It does however talk to Apple HomeKit (using Apple TV as the hub), which also talks to Nest devices. I have mine set up to let me unlock/lock from my phone, and even automatically unlock when I get home after sundown. Q: does the keypad light up for night time usage?
A: The keypad does not stay lit, but if you press the "Schlage" name at the top of the keypad it will then light up so you can see the numbers. I have had this keypad for a couple of months and am very happy with it.
A: I installed it in 6 months ago and still it says 98%. It seems strange to me, but i would say it lasts at least 6 months lol
Q: Do you have to press the Schlage button before entering the code to unlock on this model?
A: No, just insert the code. You can use the button to lock it
