A: I'm not sure what knives you are using exactly but i would not recommend putting them in the dishwasher. I own Schmidt Bros 7Pc Black Knife Block Set and they recommend hand washing them only. I normally wash the knives right after use and dry and return them to the block.
Q: Does the block fit all 6 knives?
A: Yes three knives per side. They just stick to the block via an internal magnet.
Q: Are these knives, Jet Black 7 Piece, forged or stamped steel?
A: They are stamped German Metal.
Q: What are the lengths of the knives and is the serrated knife for bread?
A: It’s written in the “Specifications” section: Bread knife (8.5 in), chef's knife (8 in), Santoku knife (7 in), serrated knife (6 in), utility knife (5 in),paring knife (4 in), knife block
Q: Does the black coating on the blade flake or fade over time?
A: Mine are all flaking after a few months. Now I get little specks of the coating in everything I cut.
Q: Are the knives in this set made with German steel or chinese?
A: All Schmidt Brothers products are engineered using 100% German Steel. The exact steel specification is DIN 1.4116. Additional engineering and production details can be found at https://schmidtbrothers.com/pages/faq-plugin.
Q: Do they hold an edge and how easy are they to sharpen?
A: Knives are cut using western-style 18 degree angles, with blades that are sharpened on both sides to create a thin cutting edge and improved sharpness. When combined with a Rockwell Hardness of 59+/-, you can trust that you’re getting a premium steel blade with an edge that will stay sharp. Knife sharpening is straightforward and recommended once a month.
