Sidney Poitier makes his long-overdue return to films in the 1988 thriller Shoot to Kill. Poitier plays an FBI agent, on the trail of an elusive killer. Reluctantly teamed with tracker Tom Berenger, the citified Poitier braves the wilds of the Pacific Northwest in search of his quarry. For Berenger, the pursuit is personal; the killer, whose identity is not immediately revealed, has joined a hunting party being guided through the country by the tracker's girlfriend Kirstie Alley. Though only bearing the slightest resemblance to Real Life (you'll love the scene between lifelong city-dweller Poitier and a huge grizzly bear), Shoot to Kill delivers the goods in the suspense department.

City slicker FBI must be led by survival expert across breathtaking scenery when chased diamond thief abducts survivalists girlfriend. Plot unfolds well and scenery enhances visuals. Later chase returns to city slickers comfort zone till the final capture. Poitier and Beringer play off each other well and humorous scenes help interject some laughter along the way. I remembered this as one 80's movies I liked watching and am glad I bought it. (wife loves the bear and moose scenes).

Sidney Poitier takes on a different role and shows us once again just how good he can be. This is a thriller with some twists and turns. Get the popcorn and orange soda BEFORE you start the movie. Kirstie Alley is wonderful in this dramatic thriller.

I love any movie that takes place in San Francisco. Diamonds, murder, who is the killer will keep you involved. Going from the city to the beautiful Northwest forest. This has it all.

Tom Berenger, Sidney Poitier, Kristie Alley and a number of other good actors make this film. This film has it all, a good plot, awesome scenery and a good ending. Even some quirky one liners. If you are a big fan of suspense, I recommend.
