    Short Circuit
Struck by lightning, an endearing little robot known only as "Number 5" escapes from an experimental electronics firm. Technician Newton Crosby (Steve Guttenberg) and his indecipherable East Indian assistant, Ben Jabituya (Fisher Stevens), set out to locate Number 5 before the military can go through with its plans to destroy the robot. Number 5 takes refuge with loopy Stephanie Speck (Ally Sheedy), who is convinced that the mechanical man is an extraterrestrial. Hoping to teach the "alien" all about Earth, she fills Number 5's memory banks with reams of pop culture -- and then the real fun begins. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This is simply one of the best of its genre from the 1980's. Today, given the special effects, this may seem quaint, but the story line and animations are excellent. This is another of the best film of the 80's genre in Sci Fi and good to round out your library. While today's film with a robot as the central character and the theme of "fitting in" have more refined special effects, this is a well done and the animation for its day, excellent. This is another of best of the 80's films I've been collecting to round out my library. At Best Buy prices, a great deal, and I also keep a copy of this and other movies to watch when traveling, or having to stay overnight on business.

      A classic!

This blu-ray is without a doubt just for fans. Although it has a boatload of special features, they are all presented in standard definition. The movie is also encoded in 1080i as opposed to 1080p, which if your setup can deinterlace properly this really wont be a problem. However, this disc by no means will ever be anywhere near reference material. Although it does look better than an DVD. I would say buy this one at the low price if you are a fan and skip it if you aren't. Then again, who isn't a fan of this movie?

This is a classic movie. I never did buy it on DVD so I did not mind spending a few extra bucks for blu-ray. It is a good family film with laughs and sad parts to boot. It is not the best blu-ray transfer but it is better than watching it on regular TV. Steve Guttenberg was awesome and hilarious back in the day. It will get watched many times by my kids as I did when I was younger so I would reccomend it.

I had been looking for this movie when I found it on amazon but I didn't want to purchase it at that price. I just happened to go into one of my local best buy stores and there it was at an amazing price!!! Saved some money and got my movie. Score!

So if you loved robots and in particular, Johnny 5, this is your movie. Because of its age there is no HD version so I bought the normal DVD and introduced my kids to the wonder that is "Short Circuit."

This Movie Was A Short Circuit

'Short Circuit' is an overall disappointment that has a few decent moments, most surprising was the foul language allowed in this film that is geared towards a younger audience. It's also one of very few movies that had a sequel that was far superior to the original.

      #5 Is Alive !

On the whole, the movie has a generous amount of genuine laughs and, even though it's sometimes laid on a little thick, enough heart to make it likeable for just about anyone. A must have for any fan great tranfer to blu-ray you will not be dissapointed. =)

      Number 5 is ALIVE!

Short Circuit, perhaps second only to Back to the Future, is one of the best quasi-sci-fi movies to come out of the 80's or ever. It is hilarious for young and old alike and you'll be happy to see all the moments you remember in HD.
