Q: Hello, I’m trying to order Sony Bravia 3 or 5 85 inch tv, what’s the difference between these two?
A: Thank you for contacting Sony, Liancho. The primary difference between the 85-inch Bravia 3 and the Bravia 5 lies in the display technology and performance capabilities. The Bravia 3 is an entry-level LED TV with a 60Hz refresh rate and basic direct lighting, making it suitable for standard television viewing and casual use. In contrast, the Bravia 5 is a significant upgrade that utilizes Mini LED backlighting and the XR Processor to deliver much higher brightness, deeper blacks, and superior contrast. Furthermore, the Bravia 5 supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 features like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which are essential for high-end gaming on consoles like the PS5. While the Bravia 3 provides the reliable color accuracy Sony is known for at a more accessible price point, the Bravia 5 offers a more cinematic experience with better motion handling and advanced AI-driven picture processing. Sony Bravia is one of the best LED TVs on the market in my opinion. This is the 3rd Bravia that I have, I have a 55" and a 75" as well, and I just love the picture. My 75", I have had for 5 years and just recently my Mom spent the weekend with us and commented on how beautiful the picture was. Yes, I am aware that OLED is all the rage, but, this 85" LED is 1/3rd the price and I don't think the OLED picture is 3 times better. It is a pretty heavy TV so if you are planning on mounting it on the wall, its about 100lbs so you might need some help there, but I guarantee you won't be disappointed in the picture.

The Sony Bravia replaced a previous Sony that was trouble free for 13 years but lacked the updated technology this 85” Bravia has. It’s mounted on my living room wall and the picture clarity and colors take your breath away! My DVD player easily connects at the backside. The Sony soundbar delivers concert volume and it’s very clear! It’s an affordable show stopper!

It’s a great tv, has all the apps I need and great picture quality for sports! It was also the perfect fit for my living room corner. You don’t need a sound bar because the tv speakers can get loud. It’s not light so be sure to have 2 or more for installing.
