A: OK IT WORKS FINE WITH A SONY ALFA AND A SMALLER POINT AND SHOOT CANON. THAT AE-1 IS AN OLDER MODEL RIGHT? THIS TRIPOD HAS UNIVERSAL THREADS. IN MY OPINION ITS GOING TO DEPEND ON THE WEIGHT OF YOUR CAMERA. ITS FINE WITH THE WEIGHT OF AN ALFA 6000 AND I FEEL LIKE IT WOULD HANDLE THAT AE-1 AS WELL.

A: It’s about 20 inches fully collapsed I wouldn’t recommend for on the desktop use tbh, Amazon has some great options for smaller tripods that can extend.
