Several worlds with 8 stages (and a boss encounter) are the bread and butter of the main game mode. You have infinite lives and continues, however, beating a world by itself grants a Silver Medal while beating the world without ever needing to use a continue nets you a Silver and Gold Medal. Collecting them all opens up end-game goodies that I won't spoil. The ability to jump is what seems to separate this title from others in the series. Many stages are built around it. Bosses as well.
