Q: does this involve a contract?
A: I could not get this T-mobile sim kit to work on a phone. I bought a new, unlocked phone along with this sim kit from Best Buy. The sim kit would not work on the new phone. So I tried the sim kit on some other used, but unlocked phones I have sitting around, and it would not work on anything. So, I guess you almost have to buy a phone if you want T-mobile services.
Q: Wait. So does it give you a phone number? And when you refill it do you keep that number?
A: This is a combination NEW account activation and 30 day service plan with a SIM kit. It's meant for activating a GSM compatible phone on T-Mobile network, using the SIM card provided. You are supposed to receive 30 days service along with this activation kit. If you want to just add more data or days to your EXISTING T-Mo prepaid account, you want a different product - a TMo REFILL card. This is meant for NEW lines of service. All mobile cellular devices require a MEID (mobile tel number), so that's what this TMo activation SIM card provides. Yes, once you activate your phone using this package, you keep the number provided until you cancel the account, or request a new number. Refilling the account with a REFILL card does not change your number. Hope that answers your question

A: I would recommend 10GB for your pocket WiFi router. Its the better value as well... I believe the Tourist Sim Kit 2GB is $30. The 10GB is $50. Its better to have extra than not enough data especially if you’re sharing the data on your pocket wifi. My cousin visited me in the US for 2weeks and the 10GB was plenty for her because she’s always on the go.
