How to Change Pop-up Blocker Settings

This article discusses how to change pop-up blocker settings in an Internet browser.

Doing so can leave you vulnerable to malicious programs. You can either disable the blocker temporarily or add favorite websites to your browser's safe list, so pop-ups will always appear.

Chrome

  1. Click on the "⋮" (3 vertical dots) in the top right corner to access the menu.
  2. Click on "Settings".
  3. Scroll down to "Privacy and security".
  4. Click on "Site Settings".
  5. Scroll down.
  6. Click on "Pop-ups and redirects".
    • To enable pop-ups, choose "Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects".
    • To disable pop-ups, choose "Don't allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects".

  1. Click the "…" (3 horizontal dots) in the top-right corner of the window.
  2. Click on "Settings".
  3. Click on "Cookies and site permissions" in the left pane.
  4. Scroll down.
  5. Click on "Pop-ups and redirects".
  6. Click the toggle to the right of "Block (recommended)" to Enable/Disable the blocking pop-ups.

  1. Click on the "⚙" (gear icon) in the upper right-hand corner to access the tools menu.
  2. Click "Internet Options".
  3. Click "Privacy".
  4. Check (or uncheck) the box next to, "Turn on the Pop-up blocker".
  5. Click "Apply".

     

Firefox

  1. Click the "☰" menu button in the top right.
  2. Click on "Settings".
  3. Click on "Privacy & Security".
  4. Scroll down.
  5. Check (or uncheck) the box to the left of "Block pop-up windows".

  6. Change setting for "When visiting other websites" to desired setting.
