    Cult Classic

I wouldn't necessarily say this movie was ahead of it's time, in fact I think it was perfect for the time in which it was released. The acting is questionable at times - especially Dracula, the character of which is so terribly overacted that it crosses the line from train-wreck to brilliantly hilarious at about the half-way point - and honestly it adds to the overall feel of the movie. It is a campy, kids run the world comedic 'horror' movie that is drowning with flaws. However, these flaws contribute to make it the great, GREAT flick that it is. This was possibly my favorite movie as a kid, and while I may not be as captivated now as I was then, I could not be happier that it finally made it's way to DVD. And yes, people, wolfman still has nards. PS: Did only people from Philly like this movie?

When I first saw in 2007 on a website that this was finally getting released on DVD, i promised myself I'd get a copy asap, and I did. I saw this classic for the first time onVHS from a rental store, my mom and I both liked it. Good vs. evil has always appealed to me, this is no exception. It's sad most of the actors didn't make it after this movie, young and the old. An amulet that was once used to balance the forces of evil is at the peak of its activation once again, and a group of kids must find it before the 'monsters' do-i.e. Dracula, Frankenstein's creature, the Mummy, etc. It may sound cheesy, but it will appeal to 13year olds and any fan of Universal pictures monsters, rent or buy it, you won't regret it.

I would recommend MONSTER SQUAD to everyone because it is a great classic. It is just one of those movies where everyone can enjoy it, kids, parents, anyone. You don't have to be a monster fan to like MONSTER SQUAD either, because it is more than a monster movie, even though the title calls for it - Haha. If you love those classic 80s comedies, with old school horror monsters, then this is the movie for you. The Bonus features alone would be great to buy even if they sold it without the movie - that is how awesome this movie is.

I haven't seen this movie probably since I was 12 or 13. It's pretty much impossible to find at a Blockbuster, or HollyWood Video. My Parents owned a Video Store when I was a kid. It was great to have friends stay over, and to just be able to go get whatever movies we wanted. This was one of our FAVS. I still remember seeing it for the first time at the theater. It was the Monster Squad or The Lost Boys. At the time I choose right. I won't know how Cheeseee it is until I actully see it again. Still a Classic, glad it's out on DVD. P.S. Next need it on Blue-Ray

    Great Dvd, Terrible Movie

'The Monster Squad' is a terribly stupid film that will most likely only be enjoyed by kids under the age of 10. It is completely undeserving of the high quality special edition treatment it has received here on this dvd, and right now, just off the top of my head, I could think of about a couple dozen films that are far superior to this film, that have received no special edition attention whatsoever. All that aside, this is an exceptional dvd release that fans of this piece of junk movie are sure to delight in.

This movie is like a time machine for me, and I was thrilled to see it on blu-ray. The picture quality is a good step up, but you need to have realistic expectations. As for the movie itself, if you loved it 20 years ago, you will still love it...not sure it will have the same impact on people who have never seen it. I watch this movie any time I want to feel 12 years old again.

    Monster Blast for Kids.

Between 'The Goonies' and 'The Lost Boys' - The Monster Squad was a club of horror loving kids caught in a mystical conspiracy to stop classic horror monsters from destroying humanity. The nostalgic level is to the roof and the jokes are goofy, though some language not appropriate for younger viewers as PG-13. Grew up on the movie and loved it like 'The Goonies'.

I loved this movie. I have a huge collection of horror movies but some how never saw this movie until now. I recognized a lot of people in the movie from the 80's. This just had everything about 80's horror that I love. A definite purchase for any horror fan who is looking for a feel good horror movie from the 80's/
