Best Vietnam Documentary
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ken Burns has done excellent documentaries every time I have seen them: the Civil War, World War II, and now Vietnam. This aired on TV as 10 episodes of 1.5 to 2 hours apiece and is now available on DVD. He has a large amount of color footage from Vietnam and interviews illuminating many points of view: historians, US combat troops, ARVN veterans, North Vietnamese veterans, and South Vietnamese civilians. It is insightful and moving. This is realistic, but in my opinion parts of his WW II documentary were somewhat more gruesome. This is an excellent way to learn the history of the conflict.

Vietnam War
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent view of VW would recommend for people in their 30 thru 80 the war put America at odds with the riots fighting against the protesters at airports and being spit on the GI's because they were drafted to the Armed Forces. It shreds at lot of light on America . I served 22 years join in 1974 and the difference from the seventies to this day in age it a sight to see.

incredible documentary
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love documentaries, but this is one of the best. what is amazing is that I did live through the Vietnam Era and I learned so much from this that I did not know. Burns is incredible. I think the most amazing part of the series are the interviews with many of the different combatants. A must watch and well worth the money. Highly recommended.

Great variety of points of view
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this on bluray instead of trying to catch the episodes when they were broadcast on pbs. It's great to watch them at my own pace. Four episodes in and I would recommend it. The wide scope of info presented from all sides through personal stories is very engaging.

This is the best documentary ever about Vietnam
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having served in Vietnam and watched numerous movies and documentaries about Vietnam, I highly recommend everyone watch this documentary. For those of you who have served, you will be surprised at the additional things you will learn about the war. For those of you who did not serve in Vietnam, this documentary will surprise you with all the things you did not know, starting when the French took over Vietnam around 1868 until the United States left in 1975.

Ken Burns and his team does it again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ken Burns and his collaborators continuously up their game and deliver the best documentaries in the business. There have been fantastic Vietnam doc's in the past - you can go back to when the war was still incredibly fresh when Hearts and Minds was released. This is in the top tier of Nam War doc's, with both an amazing soundtrack and objective view of all sides of the incredibly divisive war. This great set features great image and audio quality!

Burns's Best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything Ken Burns does is excellent, but this tops all the others. It is powerful, well researched, heartbreaking and infuriating. I cannot believe the government continues to send our young people overseas to fight in unnecessary wars in support of corrupt and oftentimes brutal regimes. This documentary should serve as a warning to the American people the next time our elected officials start beating the war drums.
