Q: do i need adapter for this head set?
A: Yes and NO, If he has a NEW xbox controller with the hole for the on the bottom next to a larger square hole than no, IF he has an older one or the one that came with his xbox than yes you do.
Q: can you hear the game and your friends through just one headphone?
A: On a Playstation 4 you would have to go into the settings for audio devices to make the TV's output feed into the headset.
