Headphones with a very "gamer aesthetic"
Posted .Pros mentioned:DesignThe Turtle Beach Recon 70 is a stylish set of gaming headphones. They’re made completely out of plastic, and the build quality is fairly solid (for plastic). My set is primarily black with red accents along the upper pad, extendable frame, and cable. It coordinates very well with my black and red gaming laptop. The cable is firmly attached to the headphones and can’t be removed as these headphones don’t have any wireless capabilities, and it can’t be replaced should it get damaged. The cable is also fairly short, so don’t expect to use these while gaming on the TV (unless you’re sitting two feet away from your television). This is unfortunate as a removable aux cable that could be swapped out for a longer cable when working with the Switch in docked mode would have been appreciated. That being said, there are cable extenders on the market that can fill this gap as well. The headphones are fairly comfortable to wear, but it did take several days for me to break them in. When I first got them, they pinched my head uncomfortably; and I was all set to toss in the towel and declare that I hated them. They seemed to loosen up with repeated use though, and they now fit my head quite comfortably for extended gaming sessions. The headphones plug in via a standard aux cable connection. This means that they can function as headphones for any device with a standard headphone port (i.e. laptops, desktops, [some] phones, handheld consoles . . . etc.). In order to use the integrated microphone, you have to have either a microphone / headphone combo port (standard on the Nintendo Switch but inconsistently available on other devices – alas, my gaming laptop doesn’t have a combo port; but my desktop does for some reason) or a special splitter cable to connect to both the microphone and headphone port to a single input. Sound quality is good. It’s not the best I’ve ever head, and hardcore audiophiles will probably want something better, but it’s perfectly adequate for gaming or casual media consumption. The headphones do a good job of blocking out ambient noise by simple dint of completely covering your ears with large amounts of padding. With the headphones on, but no sound playing, I was able to make out only a dull murmur from the people sitting next to me at the coffee shop. One feature that I really liked about these headphones is the physical volume dial on the left ear cup. The dial feels good for making fine adjustments to the volume. It’s much preferable to touchscreen volume controls or a volume rocker. In summary, The Recon 70 headphones are solid headphones with a good “gamer aesthetic” and some bonus perks in the form of an integrated microphone and physical volume dial. I would recommend these to a friend.

Great Entry Level Turtle Beach Headset
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI picked up this headset for the Nintendo Switch™ for my 8 year old son. I wanted something that wasn't crazy expensive but allowed the rest of the family not to be drowned out by him playing on his Nintendo Switch. Cue the TURTLE BEACH® RECON 70 Gaming Headset for Nintendo Switch™. I tested them out initially, firing up the Nintendo Switch and launching Splatoon 2. The load screen has squids scrolling up the screen with audio coming through the left and right as they do. The sound was crisp and clear, and definitely defined in the left and right channels, giving almost a surround sound feel. Diving into an online session, you really were given a sense of spatial awareness from the headphones as you moved around the gameplay area. You clearly heard players behind you and to the side of you. Very neat considering these aren't true 'surround sound' headphones. The bass is there, but not obtrusive, which for a young gamer is perfect. The highs are crisp and clear and perfectly adequate for an immersive experience with the Nintendo Switch. As for the build quality, these headphones are predominantly plastic, which does make them lightweight, with a good color compliment to the Nintendo Switch (Black/Red). The ear pads are comfortable and don't leave you with sweaty ears after a while of continued wearing. The volume control is a little awkwardly placed, my 8 year old didn't intuitively find it, he wanted it to be closer to the front of the headset. The mic pops down easily with a satisfying 'notched click' reinforcing that you have engaged the mic. Lift it back up and it mutes the chat, so you aren't broadcasting your lunchtime eating habits to the world! The audio quality is clear during voice chats, and with a good solid connection, there are no whines, pops or squeals from the headset. The cord is bright red, with a 3.5mm jack on the end, but it could do with being about another 1ft longer. It was fine for my son, but when I used them, I did end up getting a little tangled up in them. The cord isn't detachable, it's fixed on the headset end, so you won't be able to switch it out if it gets damaged at all. The headset is versatile, and while labeled on the packaging as for 'Nintendo Switch', they are also Xbox and PS4 compatible. My son also uses them with his iPad, so happily doing double duty. Overall, these Turtle Beach Recon 70 headphones are a great entry level headset for a young gamer, lightweight, robust and attractive with a good sound and comfortable wearing dynamc.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5My grandson loves the color combination of red and black and he asked for this unit after he broke another brand that he was using. He loves this headset and uses it almost daily while playing Fortnite with his friends. I purchased another Turtle Beach headset for my nephew a while back and his is holding up very well so overall I am impressed with the quality of their products.

Impressed with sound quality
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI'm a gamer. I play PC, Console and handheld (Switch) I did this review on the turtle beach recon 70s by having my two other headsets next to me and seeing how the sound quality weight and comfort and price compared. Price: The Recon 70 wins this hands down. Both my other two cost me alot more. One of them (we will call it green headset) cost over $100, the other (Black) $80 and we all know that the Recon retails at $39. Clear #1 on price for Recon 70. Sound Quality: out of the three the Recon 70 was almost tied for first here if not #1. My Green headset had a louder sound which I like but it seemed the Recon was much richer in sound. My black headset is not good at sound and was by far the worst. Weight: my black headset feels the lightest, Recon 70 is next and my Green is heaviest. Recon is much more comfortable so far then both. Overall I am very surprised at how nice and comfortable such a lower priced headset is! Was not expecting to use it as much as my Green but frankly It is my top option due to how comfortable and lighter it is. My green headset isnt bad but somehow I cant use it for long periods of time due to the feel (tight and heavy) Well done Turtle Beach!

Easy to use - Excellent sound - Excellent value

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5My son loves these headphones as they are interchangeable to his Nintendo Switch, his XBOX Series X, and his Playstation 4. The sound is amazing. The flexibility is top notch. And - his older brother "borrows" them every now and then when his wireless headphones need to be charged (because these are just plug-n-play). Turtle Beach makes great products that both of my sons enjoy!

Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Sound good and fit the bill for a child's gaming headset. Built quality is good, and they take light abuse from siblings (dragging, tossing to other side of couch). Mic picks up well and ear cups help isolate the user.

Works great, comfortable
|Posted .Features
Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5So far so good, as far as comfort and function goes. TBD on how sturdy it is and how long it will last. Ear cups are large and fits around ears, compared to smaller headsets that rest on your ears. The ones that sit on your ears aren't comfortable for longer sessions, so this one wins when you have long engagements that require a headset.
