Great phone for those who want simplicity
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought the Verizon prepaid LG K8V 4G LTE on 4-10-2017 and normally I wait a while, like a week or two before doing a review just to make sure I really like it. Well I didn't need to with this device. Its stock android Marshmallow 6.0.1 so theres NO bloatware whatsoever. The phone is pretty awesome. The specs of the K8V reminded me of the LG Phoenix 2 from the Go phone section. the battery on that phone sucked. The battery is still a 2,125 mAh batter on the K8V phone but its much better. Seems much more optimized. The battery lasts longer I feel. Also I also bought this phone because of the LED notification light on it which I LOVE so I don't have to hit the power button or do a double tab to turn the screen on to see if I had any calls. Awesome feature. Call quality is VERY good. People said they heard me very clear without any issues. And people sounded very good to excellent in the ear piece. The 8MP rear cam takes very good pictures. Excellent quality. The 5MP front facing cam takes ok pictures. Nothing special. Phone also does 720P HD video recording. I did some testing to see what kind of audio the phone could handle and I was pleasantly surprised. I was blaring my PC speakers to metal and the phone handle the audio pretty well. Not amazing but still pretty good. Very little distortion. Auto focus is also very good and fast. It has 16GB of memory and you get 9.30GB out of the box. But when you turn on WiFi which is only limited to 2.4GHZ unfortunately set up your Gmail account and go into the Play Store go into Settings and go to Auto-update apps at the top and click on Do Not auto update apps. This option because you may not need every app on the phone. So why use up space if you don't need the app. This way youll only have around 7-8GB's left depending on how many apps you download. Also phones 1.5GB of ram is plenty for this phone and the 1.3GHZ Snapdragon 210 processor works great. No stuttering. No random shut offs. No lagging. OH and the K8V DOES have Advanced Calling Features when you click on the phones Settings. HD voice and calling IS supportive. But there's two options: HD Video Calling and Voice or just HD Voice. But HD Video WILL take up data as the description says. These options however will ONLY work if the other person is also on Verizon and their phone also supports HD Voice. if not it wont work. The speaker on the back gets pretty loud. Little to no distortion even at high volumes. Also phone gets VERY bright. Which is a plus and build quality is excellent has some weight to it. Anyways if you want a full review of these features and more I made my own review of this phone and posted it on YouTube online. Just type in Verizon Wireless LG k8V 4G LTE into the YouTube Search box. Its the ONLY review worth watching. There's other so-called "reviews" but theyre horribly made. Look for GTX970. Its the only video I made on that channel. You're welcome lol. Hope this review helps.

Using it to post
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt's been a great replacement phone. I've had it for quite a while now. Fast with good amount of space. Only real drawbacks are I can't screen share to my TV like I could with my older previous Samsung. And calls are not the clearest and I get a lot of dropped calls mostly due to my rural location at home. Otherwise in town I don't have the call issues.

Cheap Entry Level Phone
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendThis is an okay phone. I bought it because of Verizon coverage in my area and its all my budget would allow. Pros: Wifi Calling, HD Voice, cheap Cons: Only 16GB of memory with almost half taken with preinstalled Verizon and LG bloatware, unable to use SD card for apps, does not have Nougat (yet). Okay so there is two versions of this phone through Verizon, this one (K8V Prepaid) and then just K8V. What the difference is I dont know but the K8V has an update to Android 7 Nougat but this one does not. Hopefully this one will also get Nougat, which is one of the reasons I purchased it not realizing at the time there were two versions of the same phone. And none of the preinstalled bloatware can be removed just disabled if you so desire' It does have a slot for an SD card but its can only be used for storage of photos, videos, contacts. No apps or adaptive storage on this phone which stinks because of the built in 16GB, but its $90, not $700. HD Voice and Wifi calling do work though, with HD Voice only working if the other person also has a Verizon phone with HD Voice enabled. There is lag when opening an app, of up to 1 second depending on the app. Again its $90, not $700. I saw another review here that said turn off Auto Update. Under no condition is that a good idea. The whole point of updating is if a bug or security risk is found. Even if you dont use the app, you should still let it update since malware can still infect your phone even if you dont use the app. Another good idea is to only download apps from the Play store and ONLY apps from developers you can verify. And DO NOT install apps downloaded from a third party website. Here is my process: 1. Activate Phone 2. Check for System Update under settings-scroll all the way to the bottom-System Update 3. Optional but reccomended Install micro SD card 4. Sign in with Google Account (Also optional but HIGHLY reccomended is to enable Two Factor Authentication for your Google Account) 5. Return to Settings and enable encryption for Whole Phone as well as micro SD card if installed 6. Return to Play Store and enable auto update under settings, click the 3 lines in the top left corner to open the menu When you setup the phone make sure to use a good password for the lock screen, NOT a 4 digit pin or knock code or drawing a shape. When downloading apps, make sure to check settings to see if you are able to use the SD card for storage (if you have one installed) You can backup the phone to the cloud as well as an SD card using LG Backup. Thanks for your time reading this.
