Q: why is there no tv tuner included?
A: There is no TV tuner because it is not legally considered a TV. Vizio is very clear that this is a "display" or for lack of a better word a Monitor. Your cable box or an xbox one have their own tuners and can recieve the signals you need, however if you want any sort of OTA signal, you would need an external tuner. As for why, the main reason would be the prices can be lowered for not offering a tuner in their product since its one less feature, and within the average person's home they will not need the tuner for OTA transmission, because they are using a cable reciever.
Q: Can I use an antenna to get local digital channels?
A: We appreciate your interest in the E55U-D2. This model does not include a tuner. We do include a complimentary HDMI cable to provide a higher resolution image from a cable, satellite or other HDMI supported device. A: Because most people that watch TV have to use a cable box. The cable box is the tuner. I wish this dislay/monitor would come without the "smart" feature and be even cheaper. My Blu-ray player is already smart. It's redundant for the monitor to have the same feature I already own.

All apps are accessed by Casting them from your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. It must be running iOS 8.0 or higher or Android 4.4 or higher.
