Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan team up to take the swagger out of the traditional music biopic with this look at the troubled life of fictional music legend Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly). Apatow and Kasdan both write and produce, while Freaks and Geeks and Orange County director Kasdan steps into the director's chair. Dewey Cox is a rock & roll legend whose songs have the power to shake a nation. Despite the fact that Cox's career has been something of a roller coaster ride, the fact remains that he never went out of style in the eyes of his many adoring fans. He's rubbed elbows with everyone from Elvis Presley to the Beatles, ingested every drug known to man (often in doses large enough to kill a healthy horse), starred in his own television show, and slept with hundreds of women, yet somehow he still finds the time to write some of the best-known songs ever to hit the airwaves. Now, after being married multiple times and fathering enough offspring to populate a small island nation, this musical icon continues to turn out the hits while attempting to win the heart of his beautiful backup singer Darlene (Jenna Fischer). While no one doubts that Dewey Cox will continue to dominate the airwaves, does this larger-than-life superstar really have what it takes to avoid the temptations of the rock & roll lifestyle and finally settle down with one woman? ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

    Walk bold and hard

Walk Hard was another great comedy produced by Judd Apatow. John C. Reilly gives an outstanding performance, and he can really sing. The music and soundtrack are both great. Don't let the commercials fool you because i thought it was going to be dumb too, but i was pleasantly surprised. It's by far the best parody in a long time . . . way better than scary, epic, superhero, date, -movie etc. If you've seen Walk The Line and other musical biopics than you'll have a greater chance at enjoying this movie. The special features are awesome as well. More music, outtakes, deleted scenes, etc. are all a fun watch.

One of the funniest comedies on Blu-Ray.

I've never saw this movie in theaters and with the lack of Blu-Ray titles out there, I was curious to see how this movie turned out. It's basically a story of a fictional character and his run-ins with a number of legends in the music industry (think Forrest Gump but music-oriented). Nothing really stands out from a comedic aspect in the movie and as I mentioned, a lot of the humor gets repeated over the course of the movie. If you like or at least can tolerate the witty humor and some randomness, then this is a good movie to see.

Great movie & Great Performance by John Reilly

This movie is a mix of the types of films like Old School and American Pie. It has some crude humor, language and a bit of skin in the film. So parents beware. Once you can accept the movie for what it is, you'll find this is one of the funniest and creatively written flicks you've ever seen. Has tons of cameo's by actors familiar in so many other comedies. It's a story of the life of a rising musician and the drama of ups and downs of stardome. You will see other rock artists like Elvis, Buddy Holly and the Beattles played by familiar actors. All performed well. Loved it!!!

John C Reily had me laughing the entire movie. He stole the show. I had seen him in other movies, but never as the lead. He is great. The rest of the cast is good too. I love every time his dad comes on, and his "catch phrase" through the movie. The music is surprisingly good too. I still catch myself singing or whistiling them during the day. Buy it, rent it, borrow it, cant say steal it........ but watch it!! you wont be disapointed.

    Guilty as Charged

First time i saw this movie, i thought it was horrible, i'm not going to lie... but like most will ferrell movies, after multiple watches, i had to buy it... The extended version has a lot of great scenes that were left out of the original... the acting in parts is horrible, but that's part of the joke... the extras are awesome! as a huge pearl jam fan, the extended eddie vedder speech was amazing... i cant wait to watch it again!

A parody of Walk The Line

    • Top 1000 ContributorTop 1000 Contributor

This film is a parody of Walk The Line. John C. Reilly is terriffic as the fictional singer Dewey Cox. We follow his lifeas he meets people like Buddy Holly, Elvis and in a very funny scene Cox hangs out with the Beatles in India. Kinda like Forest Gump. The music is funny. If you like This Is Spinal Tap you will enjoy this film. Picture and sound is good.

    So funny!

We bought this movie the day it came out, we were so excited! John C Reilly is extremely funny and he really does look like the perfect rock star! The music was hilarious and enjoyable, too. This is definitely a movie created for younger viewers... maybe ages 16-30ish. My mother definitely wouldn't approve of this movie, but I sure do!

    John C. Reilly

This movie is worth watching at least once. It has really funny parts! It does seem kind of dead at times. It would be easy to walk away from and come back to without feeling like you missed something. I love when he signs "Walk Hard" in a punk version. They should make a greatest hits with just the funny parts.
