"Weird Al" Yankovic: The Ultimate Video Collection [DVD] [2003]

  • SKU: 6138887
  • Release Date: 11/04/2003
  • Rating: NR
This DVD collection brings together two-dozen videos from the multi-Grammy-winning musical parodist Weird Al Yankovic. These clips span every phase of his decades-long career, including such early favorites as the Joan Jett parody "I Love Rocky Road," the Nirvana spoof "Smells Like Nirvana," the Devo tribute "Dare to Be Stupid," and more recent numbers like the Coolio-inspired "Amish Paradise," and the Star Wars/Don McLean mishmash "The Saga Begins." English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Stereo. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include clips from Yankovic's Saturday morning television show and a great clip of his first appearance on network television when he played "Another One Rides the Bus," on Tom Snyder's The Tomorrow Show.

If you love Weird Al, this is the DVD for you! Its got ALL of the videos leading up to 2003. The videos after 2003 can be found as extras included with most of his deluxe CDs, which are all excellent. My only complaint (and this is a small one) is, I wish the videos just went in chronological order. If you love Weird Al (especially his videos) or know someone who does--this is a great buy!

I bought this DVD because I love Weird Al's music and I have seen a couple of his videos before. I was so disappointed to put it in the player and it sounded like an plane powering up for take off. It is so flimsy it won't play even after I cleaned it. Bummer!

    Bad Production Run

Apparently the manufacturer had a bad run of disks. The box and label on the disk say this is what the description says, but the show recorded on the disk is an "in concert" show, not the music videos. This rating isn't for the show described, because I didn't get the show described. Hopefully, they'll have a new batch available soon with the correct item recorded on the disk.
