We bought this machine new in Aug 2004. In Dec 2005, we had the motor replaced under warranty, but we had to pay for the service call which was about 25% of the original price. Now (Dec 2007), the control panel is malfunctioning to the point where the machine is inoperable. Whirlpool is unwilling to assist from my point-of-view. They say if the problem is the control panel, the panel will be replaced under warranty; however, a "qualified technician" must do a service call to diagnose the problem and then do another service call to install the replacement part. After only three years, I am unwilling to gamble on service calls for a machine of questionable integrity. Therefore, we are looking for a new machine under a different marque. Preferably, a machine that is NOT an "Energy Star" machine. I've done lots of research and talked with technicians who agree, this mandated energy conservation built into the machines is hampering their ability to perform correctly and durably.

I've had this dishweasher fro about 5 months. I run it about every other day. I run it at least twice for every load of dishes. I have never had a load come out where every dish was clean. I had technicians come out twice to look at it, only to be told, these new "higher efficiency models just work that way." Well i dont see how i am saving water if i have to let my tap run for about 10 minutes prior to running the cycle, run it twice per load, and still turn my water heater up all the way. If its necessary to run the tap until its hot prior to running a cycle, then the delay start feature is moot. the biggest drawback to any whirlpoop dishwasher is the miniscule silverware basket. The slots are too small, all the silverware gets nested, and if you put anything larger than a butter knife in there, it will block the water from getting to the soap dispenser.
I choose this model because it was one of the few models WITHOUT a towel-bar style handle. Modern dishwashers dont lock the way the old ones did, and a small child hanging on the towel-bar handle will open the dishwasher.
Don't be fooled by any dishwasher that claims to be the quietest. Unless you spend all your time directly next to your dishwasher, they are all quiet enough. Adjustable racks, stemware racks and splittable baskets are nice, but those features really run up the price. Unless you really need those features, skip over them. I would rather wash the occasional odd-shaped item by hand, than all of my everyday dishes. What matters most is its ability to clean all your dishes, all the time. This model does not do that.

I installed it myself,so I can tell you,It was a breeze.
It has all the right features, with out the bull. It runs so quietly,I don't know if it's on. Everything comes out spotless and hospital-clean.
There's an old saying, that came to me,from my father in-law. When he found a product, that was as good as this Whirlpool dishwasher,he would say "If it were any better,it would be no good". I think you get the point.

This is a very good dishwasher. The multiple cycles give you an exact cycle for your load. It is not as quiet as they make you believe, but it is quite.
