Statham plays the role of Nick Wild, a bodyguard for hire in the high stakes town of Las Vegas. After being referred by a friend, Cyrus Kinnick (Michael Angarano) seeks out Nick to guard him during his stay at the Casinos. While tending to business, Nick's friend, Holly (Dominik García-Lorido) gets in an altercation with some members of a mob crew and seeks Nick's help to get her revenge. Sounds like it's got all the making for an action packed thrill ride, right?! Well, yes AND no. The action is DEFINITELY there, but it's only there for a total of about 10-15 minutes of screen time. I will say, the scenes are REALLY well done! I really enjoyed the way they slow down during the fighting (you'll see what I mean). The rest of the movie is simply Statham's character fantasizing about getting away from Vegas for good and/or chatting it up with the locals he's become friends with over the years.

Jason Statham has effectively broken out of the unfortunate tendency of action stars to make essentially the same movie over and over again. This trend was evident with "Redemption", an excellent (although dark) effort, and now is fully realized with "Wild Card". Equal parts drama and psychological thriller, with the requisite violence occurring only with reluctance rather than gratuitousness, this is an example of thoughtful character driven film making. It is well written and acted and has a clever and darkly humorous soundtrack. I consider this an action drama for adults.

Having seen virtually every film Statham has appeared in "Wild Card" is a solid entry to his resume. Although his character isn't specifically defined it doesn't really matter. Clocking in at under 90 minutes before the credits roll it's an enjoyable view. Not exactly an action film in the sense of "The Expendables" or "The Transporter" films but when the bad guys come to play Nick Wild (Statham's character) delivers. Fans of Jason Statham won't be disappointed. Well directed by Simon West with a believable script. Decent price at $15 for the Blue-Ray.

With a back drop of Las Vegas, this detective is employed by a young man who wants the detective to teach him to loose his sence of fear. Meanwhile, a female friend wants the detective to locate 3 men who beat her and the one man had his way with her in their hotel suite. Plenty of action takes place including the detective winning plenty of money at the black jack table. The ending turns out with some strange but satisfying outcomes.

This is Statham doing what he does. I enjoyed it. The acting by some could have been better, but it was decent overall if you grew up watching action flicks in the 80's and 90's. It probably won't win any major awards, but I like Statham and even when his acting is bad I still enjoy his charming personality and physical skills to kick butt. It's not Snatch or Transporter, but it was ok.

I enjoyed the ensemble branching out story and characters of this movie. It is an entertaining enough flick. However, for someone looking for a straight by the numbers style action movie you may be disappointed or surprised, who knows. The conclusion o the movie was a bit underwhelming. As a discount price movie it's okay to add to the collection.

Somehow I had missed this one. I virtually buy all of Jasons movies but this one had slipped.by. When I found it at best buy,I snapped it up. I was not disappointed. Its one of his best and different than some of his others. I enjoyed the gambling scenes. They were exciting . Don't miss this one.

Jason Statham has done some pretty good B rated movies in the past. This one really disappointed me because I have always trusted his ability to keep the action flowing even when the movie I slow. Unfortunately, even Jason couldn't keep this movie on life support. I'll keep the movie as Trade-In bait.
