Another fantastic thriller from Fincher
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zodiac is a dramatic reinterpretation of the Zodiac serial murders from the late 60's to early 70's. The movie is an engrossing experience and for people who either don't remember or were too young to have been around when the killings took place, is a harsh but realistic take on what happened based off of first hand survivor accounts. The movie mainly follows Jake Gyllenhals character who is a cartoonist for the local paper. His love of puzzles draws him into an almost maniacal obsession with discovering who the Zodiac killer is. If you're a fan of thrillers, drama or David Fincher the director, you;ll want to watch this film. The special features are surprisingly robust by todays standards. There is a full length commentary on the film disc as well as several behind the scenes features on the second that include CG setups, wardrobe interviews and even interviews with survivors and others that were directly impacted by the Zodiac killer. There is roughly over 3 hours of bonus content.

another masterpiece by fincher
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a huge fan of David Fincher's oeuvre. This man is responsible for some of my favorite films of the last two decades: Gone Girl, The Social Network, Se7en, Fight Club, and my personal favorite, Zodiac. Zodiac features an all-star cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, an engaging story and script based on the true story of the infamous Zodiac killer, and beautiful cinematography by the late and great Harris Savides. With a run-time of over 2 and half hours, this may seem intimidating to some viewers, but I promise you will not be disappointed. This is a must-own film in my collection, and in everyone's collection.

David Fincher's underrated masterpiece.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zodiac got unfairly treated by an audience that expected Se7en Part 2. Indeed, I expected something more akin to that film, and was initially disappointed by it. As time went on though, my mind wouldn't let me forget the film, and when the Director's Cut was announced, I gave it another shot to see if I was really missing something. After seeing the Director's Cut, I did a complete 180 on the film. I finally got what the film was trying to do, and I now consider it one of Fincher's best films (if not THE best). The Blu-ray had been out of print for way too long, so I was glad to see it brought back, and at a reasonable price too. Highly recommended.

An excellent David Fincher film.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.David Fincher is one of my favorite modern directors and Zodiac shows him flexing his filmmaking muscle to great effect. Focused more on the pursuit of the Zodiac killer than the killer himself, Zodiac takes cues from The Silence Of The Lambs but manages to discern itself amongst other similar films due to its excellent direction, intensive pacing and general attention to detail. Essential viewing for Fincher fans and highly recommended to those less initiated.

Creepy good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."Zodiac" is a terrific film that's as historically accurate as it is enthralling. Under the able direction of David Fincher ("Se7en", "Fight Club"), the movie clearly portrays the terror, fear, and uncertainty that swept California during the late '60s and '70s as the self-named serial killer known as Zodiac began a killing sweep throughout the state. As members of a number of different police jurisdictions search for clues to the Zodiac killings, San Francisco Chronicle reporter Paul Avery and Cartoonist Robert Graysmith start tracking the killer from a journalistic side of the case. A solid cast adds to the mesmerizing plot. Robert Downey Jr., as always, is quirky and memorable as reporter Paul Avery. Jake Gyllenhaal plays the obsessive and dogged cartoonist Robert Graysmith. Mark Ruffalo plays a scruffy "Inspector Colombo-type" detective who trails the killer and never quite seems to catch up to him. Highly recommended.
