This is a must have for the PS5 pro so that you have a disc option if you don’t plan to do all digital games. Pretty simple to install.

I bought this drive for the PS5 Pro, and I definitely wish the console would have came with it instead of needing to buy it separately. In the end that was Sony's choice, maybe the PS5 Pro price would have been $750 or more instead if it did, but in any case it is what it is. I'm glad we at least we still have the option to still use physical discs for now as going digital continues taking over. As for reviewing the disc drive itself, it works great. I had to watch a video of the installation since the bottom plate of the PS5 Pro takes some force to remove in order to put this on, and I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. It comes with longer plastic legs to pop on for using the PS5 Pro horizontally, so I have no need for the vertical stand they also sell separately. I bought several games on disc that are much cheaper than what they cost digitally, and I am using GameFly to rent PS5 disc games too. I've already saved the monetary value of how much this drive costs in these few days of having the console, and over time I'm sure I'll save even more money by taking advantage of discs. At this point I'm not sure if the eventual PS6 will have a disc drive or the option of attaching a separate one like we got here, keeping my fingers crossed that physical media will keep hanging on!
