ASUS - PRIME NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 PCI Express 5.0 Graphics Card - Black

The ASUS PRIME RTX 5080 is an absolute beast in a surprisingly compact form. Installation was straightforward thanks to its SFF-friendly 2.5-slot design, and it fit perfectly in my Micro-ATX case without airflow issues. The fans are impressively quiet, even when the card is under heavy load, and temperatures stay well under control. I was very impressed with the performance to thermal deltas. Performance is phenomenal, handling demanding games at high resolutions with ease. The dual BIOS and 0dB fan mode are nice touches for customizing noise and performance balance. Honestly, I don't even need to use the silent mode, as it's quiet enough for me already. While there’s a fair bit of plastic in the build, it still feels solid and well-engineered. Overall, this card offers top-tier power, quiet operation, and excellent efficiency in a small GPU.

Upgraded from an RTX 3080 FE to the 5080, and the difference is massive. Frame rates are significantly higher, ray tracing performance is way better, and DLSS 4.0 makes everything smoother without sacrificing quality. Temps are solid, and power efficiency seems improved too. If you’re coming from a 30-series card, this is a serious upgrade—definitely worth it!

I have been waiting for years to upgrade my system’s GPU, the main reason I did it now despite price increases is because I need this for local AI models. In late 2023 I was able to upgrade my system with everything but a GPU, just didn’t know which way to go. I had an Ryzen 9 5950x and 128GB of RAM I was planning to get a 3090 (actually tried and that was a disaster of an experience), I knew the 4000 series was nice, but I didn’t like the price points, plus I only was dabbling in AI and doing lite gaming so my current setup was still functional, so I decided to wait until the super series of 4000 came out was gonna get a 4070 ti super at launch. Unfortunately, I was not able to grab a card then because of other unforeseen circumstances so I thought the 5000 series might be a chance. Well, I didn’t like what I was reading about the cards, but now it’s almost to the point where if you don’t grab one it feels like Nvidia might just leave you high and dry, so with much reluctance, I got the 5080 because I was disappointed the 5070 ti’s bus width and they still haven’t come out with a super series which was another thing I was waiting forward to seeing that lineup. Anyway, if you’ve made it this far into the review, congratulations, you really want to know about my experience, well, I’ve only had the card for a few days and I can’t use it at the moment because my motherboard went kaput! I am excited about it though to see how it handles local AI models, and maybe the occasional game or two. Whatever the case, it’s going to be a massive upgrade from my 1660 Super that I’ve had since 2021 (secondhand). I may try to update this once I am able to get it up and running.

Fantastic card at msrp. Upgraded from 3080 ftw3. This card runs cooler and is smaller. Performance gain is great. Love it
