ProArt is a Gold Standard for Creatives

I wanted to pickup another laptop for some creative work to speed up a project I recently started. I was looking at ProArt laptops as the one I have works great but I didn’t need as much power as the first one. That’s when I saw ASUS was refreshing the ProArt P16 for 2026, so I decided to pickup the refreshed model and run it through its paces. Pros: - Creator focused Laptop. - Clean & Professional case design. - Amazing OLED Display, with 120Hz Refresh Rate. Cons: - Gets hot underload, external cooling recommended. - 512GB Storage is limiting. - No Upgradeable RAM. Specs & Comparison: The Asus ProArt P16 2026 model comes in multiple configurations, with the model I got having an AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 CPU, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and an RTX 5060 GPU. All of this fits into a case that is about 14in by 9.7in by 0.6-0.7in and weights about 4lbs. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 CPU has 10 cores, 4 Zen 5 performance cores and 6 Zen 5c efficiency cores. Once again, AMD has made the TDP for the CPU by default only 28W, with a configurable TDP of 15-54W based on the manufacture’s configurations. This means that even in a thin laptop, this CPU most likely won’t cause overheating with adequate cooling. This is great for a workbook which will most likely get used for heavy workloads over multiple hours each day, such as video editing or CAD modeling. The integrated NPU maintains 50 TOPS for AI Processing, which matches the NPU performance of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 300 series. This is helpful for local computing of AI tasks, reducing the time and energy required to complete. I’ve been working with smaller local models as the costs of AI subscriptions continue to rise, and an NPU makes a huge difference in speed of tasks. Asus opted to include a Mobile Nvidia RTX 5060 with 8GBs of GDDR7 for the base model instead of the RTX 5070, which works well for most tasks though is slightly slower overall. Like past models, the Display is the main star of the show, though again it is a slight downgrade to a 3K resolution (2880 x 1800) from the prior models 4K resolution. Personally, I find the resolution reduction an overall improvement to the refresh as it makes for a better experience compared to the 4K resolution which left most text a bit smaller or scaled to an abnormal size on the 16in display. I found I would often have to adjust the scaling up above 150% to account for my aging eyes. The biggest improvement on the display is the increase in refresh rate, up to 120 frames per second from 60 frames per second on the older model. ASUS did create a model with only 16GB of RAM, but luckily, I was able to get one with 32GB of LPDDR5X at 7500MT/s, this is soldered on to the board and not upgradeable. Unfortunately, the primary drive is only 512GB of PCIe 4.0 storage which is most likely due to the ongoing parts shortage caused by the AI Boom. There is still a 2nd open M.2 slot inside for additional storage expansion in the future when prices come down. Case Design: I really love the ASUS ProArt case design, it is one of the cleanest and most professional looking laptops that packs plenty of power for any kind of demanding work. The all-aluminum case in a matte black with a simple and subtle logo says it all. The large trackpad provides plenty of space to work with a built-in dial for adjusting shades/brightness/contrast which just makes the experience better. Connectivity: For wireless connectivity the ProArt P16 comes equipped with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. For ports, on the Left side there is a 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, USB-C 4.0 Gen 3, HDMI 2.1, and Power ports. On the Right side are the SD Express 7.0 card reader, USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Performance: I said it before and I’ll say it again, the ProArt line is not designed with Gaming in mind, though they can play a game alright, you will not be pulling top frame rates at ultra settings. If you are primarily going to game, then look for a bulkier gaming laptop as it allows for more airflow and better gaming experience. The ProArt P16 is my go-to recommendation for Creators looking for a professional machine. It does get quite hot but handles it well even during heavy workloads (like 8hrs of 4K video rendering). In most cases, I would hit 91C, then thermal throttling would kick in keeping the laptop from overheating. To better manage the heat, I like to use an external laptop cooler. My go to cooler is the Razer Laptop Cooling Pad which saw thermals drop roughly 10 degrees C, hovering around 80C during similar workloads with the cooler on Smart Fan Curve. The cooler greatly increases noise, so for audio work it is not ideal but for rendering or modeling it has no impact on the work quality. For Recording, the ProArt P16 handled recording multiple video and audio sources without an issue. I was able to run simultaneous recording on 4 cameras in 1080p60fps with 2 microphones as part of my test. The biggest concern while recording was drive space, as recording higher quality would quickly eat up most of the available remaining drive space. I will end up having to install a 2nd M.2 or use an external drive to store and work from. For Visual work, the ProArt P16’s screen is one of the best available. The 3K OLED screen covers 100 percent of the color gamut, while also providing fluid smooth motion with the 120Hz refresh rate. I’m always blown away with how beautiful HDR content can be when paired with a screen that fully demonstrate the colors and contrast. Conclusion: Once again, even considering the ongoing RAM and Storage shortages caused by the AI Boom, I’ve got to recommend the ASUS ProArt line to any size creator. Improvements to the display and CPU make this refresh an improvement on what is already the Gold Standard for Digital Creators.

Work and Fun..Asus ProArt gets it Done!

Use case- Video editing, podcasting, photo editing and general streaming and liezure. I have tablets, and gaming laptops and they all do great at their designed tasks but I was really intrigued with the “ProArt” series. The proArt is designed with content creators in mind and ultimately when I want to play a game I go to the PS5 anyway and gaming computers are great at content creation regards to video but with podcasts and video voice overs… they can be noisy and the mics can pick up on that hum or fan kicking on which can cause a lot of headaches. One of the first things I absolutely love is the “whisper Mode”. It will cut into the power but capturing voice overs and podcast creation is no problem. But let me start from the beginning, The packaging and build quality is premium TOP NOTCH! The “Nano black” is striking! I mean it is gorgeous and bold. Its thin. It’s also built for adventure. Asus showed pictures of the laptop outside and so I researched it a bit more and it is tested to Military 810 H standards… Now I am no expert on all that but it stated that it goes through shock tests, temperature tests, scratch resistance, vibrations and altitude tests. Camping trips and ariports will not be a problem for this laptop. The touch pad is spacious and responsive and has a build in spin wheel that can control contrast, audio and font size with a finger swipe! Super cool and Super useful! For sliding through time lines. The onboard speakers are surprising good. The screen is also gorgeous and color accurate to the media I load up. The power… You can really feel the lighting fast AMD AI 9 465 processor and the 32 GB ram. I mean rendering projects is amazingly fast…noticeable. Everything this thing touches from the web, to Adobe CC app are just blazing! The only thing I don’t like about this unit is the meager 512 GB SSD drove… I mean 512! To be fair, all my files are on SSD jump drives so it really doesn’t matter but I sometimes like to dump all the files on the internal drive so I don’t have to have an SSD drive dangling around….1TB would have been better but 512 plus external drives will get any job done. It also comes with StoryCube gathering all my raw footage which I will not be using. I don’t like putting my files into other companies hands… but for the casual user …might be handy. Now MuseTree on the other hand is an AI-assisted creation tool that is pretty intriguing. It’s local on board the laptop and its subscription free both of which I like. I still bet with all the “agree” boxes I click on Asus has some metrics on the creations but it might actually be a real handy tool. The more I play with it the more I am inclined to think so. If you a parent buying this for a kid…just be aware that it is easy to tun off the security feature on the AI generator (If you know what I mean). With all the onboard AI tools, raw power and huge bright screen, It chews through power… you will want to have the power chord and an external powerbank if your camping or dial down the performance for longer battery… I would rather just keep the chord around! Overall, I really love this laptop…. I mean Asus really has it’s game tight with the ProArt! The premium design…Windows based which is HUGE for me, silent during recordings, the specs, the outdoors tough build, the onboard AI, the touch screen…It’s just a content creators dream really. This is my new go to for work and fun to get the job done! Great job Asus!

    Gets the job done well

I’ve really been enjoying the ASUS ProArt P16 so far. This is one of those laptops that feels premium as soon as you start using it, but what I like most is that it actually has the performance to back up the look. The 16” 3K OLED touchscreen is probably my favorite feature. The display is absolutely beautiful. Everything looks sharp, colors are vibrant, and the contrast is really impressive. Whether I’m working, browsing, watching Netflix, or just doing everyday things, the screen makes everything look better. The touchscreen is also a nice bonus and makes navigating around the laptop really convenient. Performance has been excellent. With the AMD Ryzen AI 9 processor and 32GB of RAM, this thing handles multitasking with no problem. I can have several browser tabs and programs open at the same time without it slowing down or feeling like it’s struggling. Everything feels quick and responsive, which is exactly what I want from a laptop at this price point. The 512GB SSD also keeps things moving quickly while giving me a good amount of storage for my everyday needs. I really like the design too. The Nano Black finish looks sleek and professional without being boring. For a 16” laptop with this much power, it also doesn’t feel as bulky as I expected. It still feels like something I could easily take with me when I need to work somewhere other than home. The Copilot+ PC features are a nice addition as well. I’m still exploring everything the AI features can do, but I like having those newer capabilities built into the laptop rather than feeling like I’m using an older computer that’s already behind the times. Overall, I think ASUS did a really good job with the ProArt P16. The display is gorgeous, the performance is fast, the touchscreen is useful, and the overall design feels very premium. It’s not just a laptop that looks good sitting on a desk—it actually performs really well too. I think this would be a great choice for someone who wants something powerful enough for creative work and multitasking but still wants a laptop that’s enjoyable to use for everyday things like streaming, browsing, and general productivity. So far, I’ve been very impressed with it.

I find the control pannel extreemly usefull in daily use. Ports = a power port, HDMI 2 1 port, USB 4 type C port, two USB 3.2 gen 2 Type A ports, Audio combo port, a USB 3.2 gen 2 type C port, and a SD express 7.0 card reader. Keyboard is backlight (adjustable) and has a very natural professional feeling keys. The touch pad is nice and big and has a great feature called the Asus dial pad, you can adjust volume, brighnes and other things, you choose what you want as an option. The 16" OLED display is 120Hz stunning and smooth, colors are vibrant and accurate to me. No motion blur at all, gaming on this laptop is awesome, played some COD and I did not experience any lag at all. The touchscreen on the OLED is very responsive and perfect. With 32 gig of ram, you won't need any for many years. Programs run butter smooth, copilot is quick to respond. Asus teamed up with to give you StoryCube, MuseTree AI, and Pro Art Creator Hub. Games are smooth and quick. Setup of this laptop is like all other windows laptops. Very light weight to hold and battery life is good. Sound is great with lack of low end bass, as this is a light laptop. The only negative would be the 512gb of storage that you can upgrade.
