A: I have owned both the Dyson Animal and the Bissell and found the suction to be equal to the Dyson. It does not lose suction even when it is 3/4 full. I have a smaller Shark unit so I don't think that would be a fair comparison. I also have a Kirby that can suck the chrome off a bumper as long as the bag isn't more than half full. The Eraser has a few feature I like including not clogging, easy empty canister (I haven't had to dig anything thing out) and the brush roller that doesn't get string or hair wrapped around it. I don't know how it does that but that has been a problem with every vacuum I've owned.
A: I haven't tried the two vacuums that you mentioned, but I can say that I was surprised that this vacuum wasn't terribly loud. Given it's size and the number of vents coming out of it, I expected it to be deafening. Upon turning it on, I was surprised by just how mild the sound was. It'll definitely drown out a television or radio some, but you'll still be able to hear people talking over it.
Q: How is it with Human Long Hair? How is it with dirt? How is it with long hair dog hair?
A: I have longer than shoulder length hair, and it is everywhere. I have had no problems with it getting wrapped around the brush. Its magic I guess.
A: Yes, I can attest to the fact that it does have an ON/OFF switch for the brush roller, so Bissell's website is correct
Q: Does this vacuum have a filter that needs to be cleaned?
A: It does have a washable and replaceable filter in the removable canister.
A: I have a 2 year old St. Bernard mix who was shedding like crazy with our crazy weather change over the past month. I purchased this vacuum and absolutely love it. It picks up the dog hair on hardwoods and the carpet very well. I also use the tools for her dog crate and the couch. I have not had any issues with the hose clogging up at all. I would recommend this vacuum for sure.
Q: Do I have to use the febreeze odor eliminator
A: No, there is a non-Febreeze filter that is also included in the packaging. The Febreeze filter does put out an fresh scent when you vacuum, but if you have any chemical sensitivity you probably want to avoid using it.
A: Very mobile / easy to push, but a little heavy to pick up., but works great
