A: I personally prefer to use a laser printer for my routine document printing. I purchased the iP872 mainly for the photo printing especially the 13"x19" print format. With all the proper ink cartridges installed this printer prints documents very well. I do not see a need for an additional document printer. With that said if you print a large amount of plain paper documents this printer will not print them as fast as a laser printer or monochrome ink jet.

So far, I love it! I couldn’t set it up wirelessly at first but then I did this: 1. Search “CanonPixma ip8720 driver download” and find the correct link on the canon website. Proceed with the instructions until you get to the part where the computer cannot detect the printer. Now: 1. Turn on printer 2. Press and hold the continue (middle) button until the white power button flashes 9 times. Release the button 3. Press the button again for 6 more flashes. This will cue the printer to print the status page of the printer. The SSID should say “BJNPSETUP” 4. Press the blue “WiFi” button on the printer until the white power button flashes once 5. On your router, press or press & hold the WPS button 6. Your printer should take just a few seconds to connect & the blue and white lights will blink for a second or two. Once they stop, the printer is connected. Your screen should update as well. Good luck! I love the printer so far. Setup was about 30 minutes as I searched how to connect the network right away when I ran into the issue. Downloading the driver took about 15 minutes.

This is my first ever printer, photo or all purpose. The only reason I rated this item 4 stars is because I know there is room for my knowledge to grow in the printer world. I was going to go with a Canon Pro printer but I got this one instead to tinker with and take my hobby to the next level and print my photographs. I have read some really bad reviews on how this product is very difficult, bad or not user friendly to set up.. Let me tell you that this is FALSE. This printer, from the time I opened the box to setting it up on my desk, installing the ink cartridges, connecting it to my Wifi network and installing driver(s) only took about 15 at most 20 minutes. As this is my first printer and first time printing my photographs, I have already ran about 30 (mix of 4x6, 5x7 & 8.5x11) family photos through it in order to test and fine tune my print settings. Let me say that seeing my photos printed has given me a completely new experience in this trade. Being able to hold and look at the photographs is amazing and what makes it all better is that this printer produces grate images! Clear, vibrant, color accurate and sharp. I do plan to revisit this printer after some time but as an initial review, I am more than happy with my purchase.

Originally, I was going for a canon printer that was abt. $400 more expensive than this one. But after much consideration and debate, I decided the extra $400 wasn’t worth it. And I was right. This printer is absolutely fantastic. And the quality of the pictures is great! There’s only two complaints I would have about it: 1. Printing anything is REALLY slow (compared to inkjet and non photo dedicated printers) a photo that is 8 1/2 by 11 can take a whole minute to print depending on colors and detail. 2. The color/vibrancy/brightness you see on your computer or phone isn’t always what you get when printed (pictures become more dull). To get around that, all you have to do is use the software that comes with the printer. Go onto my images suite and click the button that says prioritize output. Then you’ll get exactly what you were wanting to print every time. The picture I attached are some of the photos I printed using this printer with this setting. It’s AMAZING.
